    “Nice quiet stay with plenty of room for my family of 4 adults.”

    Close to Rosscarbery (pubs & groceries), so that was a big plus. Nice garden. Wifi was slow, but it existed, which was not the case with one of our other stays. Would have loved to stay longer.

Settled in Ballyoughtera near Rosscarbery is this fantastic, detached house of Gleann Ghrianmhar.

A wonderful base for a family of six's getaway, Gleann Ghrianmhar enjoys lovely views of the peaceful surroundings, alongside pet-friendly accommodation!

After parking in the off-road spaces outside, make your way inside to find a spacious kitchen/diner that is well-equipped for your self-catering stay, from great cooking facilities to laundry appliances.

Once the aspiring chef of the group has fixed up a delectable dinner here, it can be enjoyed at the six-seater dining table over a glass of wine.

After dinner, retreat to one of the two sitting rooms, both of which offer TVs and leather sofas, and one of which enjoys the charming touch of a toasty fire.

At the end of the day, ascend the stairs to find four fabulously decorated bedrooms, two of which host singles, another offering a double with a handy basin, and the latter comprising a master bedroom with a king-size.

The family bathroom can be found on this floor, too, with slate tiles adorning the floor, and a bath offering a relaxing soak at the start or end of the day!

The property also benefits from an enclosed garden, so your canine companions can safely stretch their legs outside.

Drive a short way into Rosscarbery, a welcoming town with a fantastic leisure centre, where you can try your hand at watersports on the lagoon before tucking into a hearty meal at Nolan's or The Landmark Restaurant & Coffee House.

For some fun on the coast, be sure to travel south to Warren Beach, where a set of idyllic sands, the Rosscarbery Pitch and Putt Club and the quaint Rosscarbery Pier await.

Why not visit Long Strand, home to another lovely beach, along with access to Castle Freke and the fascinating Galley head Lighthouse?

ROSSCARBERY, COUNTY CORK

Clonakilty 8 miles; Skibbereen 13 miles.

Situated at the head of a tidal inlet about a mile inland from the sea and located between Skibbereen and Clonakilty, Rosscarbery makes for an ideal holiday destination. Dating back to the 6th century, this sleepy country town was once one of the major European cities and famed as a centre of learning, having previously been a university town. Nowadays it is home to a much smaller population and benefits from a lovely laid back and relaxed atmosphere. There are quaint little shops and good Irish pubs as well as a number of quality restaurants to tempt your taste buds. The town itself is in close proximity to three fine beaches, the nearest of which, Warren Beach holds the prestigious Blue Flag status. Those who enjoy watersports are well catered for and there are great opportunities for walking, cycling and golf nearby.
