Situated between the sister villages of Ballyfarnon and Keadue on the edge of Kilronan Castle Estate and Spa, lies this 200 year old small stone cottage. Formerly a gate lodge to the butler's residence to the castle estate, The North Lodge, a quaint traditional cottage, has been lovingly restored to provide the ideal romantic getaway for couples. Guests will enjoy the kitchen with dining area with solid fuel range or relax with a glass of wine in the sitting room with multi-fuel stove and plan the next days’ endeavours. The terrain outside is one of woodland walks, lakeshore treks and mountain views. Take a stroll through the grounds of nearby Kilronan Castle on the shores of Lough Meelagh, walk the miners way and many trails. The villages of Ballyfarnon and Keadue are a short drive away. Keadue has won the prestigious award of tidiest village in Ireland and continues to impress. Travel a few miles to Arigna Mining Experience and take the intriguing guided tour underground before relaxing in the adjoining café. Visit Lough Key Forest & Amenity Park for relaxing strolls through mature woodland along the scenic lakeshore. The towns of Drumshanbo, Boyle and Carrick-On -Shannon are a short distance away and offer plenty of attractions. Travel west to the coastal town of Sligo, home to the famous poet W.B. Yeats, and brimming with something for everyone including surfing, seaweed baths, beaches, galleries, boat trips on Lough Gill and much more. Your North West break at The North Lodge beckons!

Ballyfarnon is a small village located in the northern part of County Roscommon. Lying close to the border of County Sligo and County Leitrim, it has good links into both counties. The village is situated on the River Feorish at the foot of Arigna Mountain and has many popular lakes nearby for the keen fishermen amongst you. The old Arigna coal mines that overlook the village are now home to the Arigna Mining Experience which is well worth a visit. Kilronan Castle, dating from the 19th century, is nearby and is now a luxury 5* hotel and a popular wedding venue. Lough Allen situated on the River Shannon is a short drive away and for the more adventurous visit Lough Key with its forest park adventure centre. A short drive will take you on to the Wild Atlantic Way where this amazing scenic coastal drive with its dramatic coastal scenery awaits.
