Situated in the village of Cootehall, a short walk from the marina is this airy detached cottage in County Roscommon. The accommodation is welcoming and you will instantly feel at home in this well-decorated, charming cottage. With four lovely bedrooms, two of which have an en-suite shower room, the cottage is ideal for families or friends to discover this unspoilt part of Ireland. The well-equipped kitchen is perfect for the chef in the group and you can enjoy your delicious meal in the dining area. The sitting room has the added benefit of a warming open fire, so you can kick off your boots after a hard day’s walking and spend the evening relaxing. There is a large garden outside where any children in the family can play safely, giving the parents some peace of mind. Cootehall is in a lovely location on the shore of Oakport Lough and the Boyle River and has nearby amenities such as a local shop and pub. This is a great base for touring the nearby region and there are many attractions nearby including the towns of Boyle and Carrick-on-Shannon. You can take cruises on the River Shannon, go for walks at Lough Key Forest and Activity Park or visit Boyle Abbey and the Argina Mining Experience. For any history fans you can travel back in time and visit the tombs at Carrowkeel which are older than the Pyramids, Kilronan Castle Estate which is a short drive away or spend an afternoon at the Irish Famine Museum at Strokestown Park House. The Wild Atlantic Way is a little further afield and is a haven of picturesque coastlines and sandy beaches, with so many choices of what to do you’ll be returning sooner than you thought.
