Red Kite Cottages
These two superb semi-detached houses are situated in the heart of the quaint and quiet village of Avoca, within easy reach of the towns of Arklow and Wicklow in County Wicklow. These lovely cottages are steeped in character and history. They were originally built as a chapel, then converted in c.1820 into a primary school and then into a Post Office. They are now two holiday properties that are ideal for a couple or small family who wish to explore this part of Ireland. Both of these delightful cottages sleep four people with both having two bedrooms, including the main bedroom in each which has en-suite facilities. Red Kite One has a woodburning stove, perfect for winter evenings and Red Kite Two has a wall mounted flame-effect electric fire. Both of these cottages have shared use of a raised front patio area with furniture, a gorgeous sun trap over which the magnificent red kites fly. This patio is the perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy a drink after a day out and about while watching the gentle bustle of village life. There is also a small gravelled rear garden for each property, secure and private. The village of Avoca is situated on the River Avoca, in Ireland’s Garden County, with the surrounding green landscape ideal for walks and cycle rides. Avoca found fame in the late 1700s as it became the site of Ireland’s largest gold rush. The village is also known as being the location of the TV series, Ballykissangel, as well as the Avoca Handweavers Mill, shop and cafe (Ireland's oldest working woollen mill). There’s plenty more to see and do within reach, including a visit to the towns of Wicklow and Arklow, and even the capital Dublin is only an hour and a half away, where you will find something for everyone. Two delightful holiday homes, both of which are an ideal base for your Irish getaway.
