“The cottage is fantastically well-equipped and is in a wonderful position.”

Its own terrace courtyard at the back which is accessed through a sliding glass door from the main living room is a great place to sit and look out to the sea. The only reason I didn't give it a maximum score for 'comfort' is that the gas boiler had to be turned on and off a lot to ensure it wasn't burning fuel unnecessarily (and therefore costing a lot!) Comments in the guest book suggested that you could spend 100 euro on gas/electricity. However, by only turning it on an hour before a bath ...

However, by only turning it on an hour before a bath was needed, and turning off all radiators apart from the two in the living room which we used for an hour most evenings in late May, the cost for the week was only 20 euro. We also used the extra heater in the downstairs bathroom when in use. Clearer guidance on usage and cost would have been useful. Oliver's Bar and restaurant only a couple of minutes walk away was great, with lovely staff and food. Cleggan was ideal for us - a couple in their 60s who like walking and wildife. We walked from the property without needing the car for three days - we were lucky with the weather! A trip to Inishbofin is a must - with a boat from the harbour, again only 2 minutes away - leaving and returning at least daily in the season. A fantastic holiday!
