In 2008, Hogans Irish Cottages, the Irish trading brand of Sykes
Holiday Cottages was launched to offer customers ferry-inclusive
cottage holidays to Ireland.
This was in response to customer demand for quality cottages in Ireland, but our tradition of customer service, competitive prices and a choice of excellent cottages is long established.
Clive Sykes started in the holiday letting business when he lived
in the Yorkshire Dales over 25 years ago. His mother and some
family friends owned holiday cottages in the area, and needed help
with attracting bookings. Clive's marketing skills and
dedication to quality and customer service soon showed results, and
Sykes Cottages was established.
In 1992, the first brochure was produced, in which the cottages
were shown through pencil sketches and the internet played no part
in commercial success. At this point, the business continued to
grow and, during the mid 90's, the decision was made to move to
Chester.
Two subsequent offices in the city centre were used as the Sykes
headquarters, with more employees taken on regularly as the
business expanded. Sykes Cottages recognised early that maintaining
an online presence was crucial, and the ease of browsing, choosing
and booking cottages online helped Sykes with their strong growth
during the early 2000s.
In 2006, Sykes Cottages relocated to larger premises. The company
has grown rapidly since then, and today boasts a cutting edge
website, secure online booking, and a staff of over 80 people ...
including, still, Mr. Sykes himself!
Originally from County Tipperary, Caroline Hogan joined Sykes
Cottages in 2004, and quickly became established as an intrinsic
part of Sykes' management team. She has overseen the successful
launch of Hogans Irish Cottages, offering Irish cottages to the UK
market. Caroline's sister Karen joined the business in 2008,
and the dedicated Hogans team ensure the ethos of family, quality
and customer service so intrinsic to Sykes success continues with
Hogans Irish Cottages.
I found Hogans a first class company. From my first call the staff were very helpful & knowledgeable about the area we were going to. If the sales team were busy they always phoned back. Having a wide choice of cottages & ferry package made booking the holiday very easy. I will definitely use Hogans again

We have been travelling to West Cork for the past 20 years, and this was the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Beautifully furnished, very well equipped and in the most beautiful scenic setting of Glandore. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, and we are hoping to return next year.
