Just show me County Limerick Cottages
Escape to a County Limerick cottage and savour Irish hospitality
at its best! This is a county where old and new blend seamlessly -
take Limerick
City on the River Shannon, where medieval lanes house
a treasure trove of historic delights, alongside trendy bars and
restaurants and stylish boutiques. There's a flourishing arts
scene too, with a non-stop line-up of events. And when it comes to
sport, there's rugby, Gaelic football, hurling, golf,
horse-racing…the list goes on.
Indeed, County Limerick is awash with delightful towns and
villages. Look out for Adare, home to three ruined abbeys and a
charming main street lined with Tudor-style thatched cottages and
high quality eateries. Visit the Heritage and Visitor Centre, watch
a game of polo, or saddle up yourself and soak up the scenery. For
superb angling and riverside walks, visit the elegant village of
Castleconnell. Explore the ancient walled town of Kilmallock, or
delve back to pre-Celtic times at the Lough Gur Visitor Centre.
Admire a replica of the 'Yankee Clipper' at the Foynes
Flying Boat Museum and step back to the 1940s when Foynes was a
major hub of the aviation world. Or follow the Limerick Garden
Trail, showcasing six of Limerick's top gardens in every size
and style. Don your boots and walk the Ballyhoura Way, a
long-distance path zigzagging through tranquil pastureland and over
velvety mountains. Or explore the Curraghchase Forest Park,
offering a number of walking and cycling trails, popular with
families. And wherever you go on your Limerick cottage holiday,
you'll find the people warm and witty. Enjoy!
