Just show me County Cork Cottages
Brimming with attractions, County Cork is a delight to explore
and there's no better base than a County Cork cottage. Discover
the city of Cork, fast becoming one of Europe's hippest spots,
with an unrivalled range of shops, restaurants and bars, plus
fantastic cultural venues. A stone's throw away is the pretty
village of Blarney nestling in wooded countryside. Make your way to
Blarney Castle and climb its battlements to kiss the magical
Blarney Stone - guaranteed to give you the 'gift of the
gab'!
For gourmet restaurants, superb sailing and legendary golf, the
attractive Irish Heritage Town of Kinsale comes up trumps. Youghal
is another prime example, featuring medieval town walls and two
Blue Flag beaches. Avid walkers and cyclists should opt for Bantry,
a bustling market town wedged amid spectacular scenery. Both the
Sheep's Head Way and Beara Way are on the doorstep, way-marked
routes along two rugged peninsulas. Expect incredible views and
stunning plants (thanks to the Gulf Stream climate), while Bronze
Age remains and early Christian ring-forts add another dimension.
Play championship golf at Bantry Bay, spend a day at Ilnacullin
Gardens, or visit the exquisite estate of Bantry House.
To the far south-west lies Mizen Head, encircled by roaring
waves and home to a fascinating maritime museum. Close by is the
almost Caribbean setting of Barley Cove - a beach not-to-be-missed
and fantastic for surfing. What else? The Model Railway Village at
Clonakilty, the nature trails of Millstreet Country Park, the Fota
Wildlife Park, whale watching, diving…options are endless on
a County Cork cottage holiday!
