  • “We have just returned from a week at this fabulous house!”

    ...

We have stayed in many holiday rentals over the years and this is one of the best. The property is in a stunning location, so peaceful with great views and beautiful walks but near enough to local facilities. The house is immaculately kept and so spacious. There is room for everyone with some to spare. The kitchen was well equiped for those who prefer to home cook but the local pub just up the road is a must visit for those who prefer to lift nothing more than a glass of something! We especially loved relaxing in the evenings with the log fire going in the lounge/sitting room. I have to say a huge Thank You to Damien the owner, who has to be the most thoughtful owner I have ever encountered. Damien had a genuine concern that we enjoyed our visit and that we had no problems and had a great time. We were left in peace, but knowing that he was just a phone call away should we need anything. I would 100% recommend this property if you want a relaxing break in a beautiful property in a beautiful area. We will definitely be back! xxxx

About the location

AUGHNACLIFFE, COUNTY LONGFORD

Ballinamuck 6 miles; Granard 8.5 miles; Longford 13 miles.

Located midway between the towns of Longford and Cavan is the small, scenic village of Aughnacliffe in North County Longford. The village is regularly referred to as a fisherman’s paradise as there is an abundance of lakes on the doorstep, including the impressive Lough Gowna, perfect for pike, trout and bream fishing. Lough Gowna is also home to the island of Inchmore where the remains of a historic monastery lie. Aughnacliffe is literally translated to ‘Field of the stones’ and named after the two prehistoric portal tombs that are located here, the Aughnacliffe Dolmen and the Cleenrath Dolmen, dating back to roughly 3800BC. Aughnacliffe is also home to Leebeen Park, with a walkway along the lake shore, a children’s play area and outdoor exercise equipment. A wonderful base to discover this scenic region.
