    “We loved this house.”

Everything we could want and more. The amazing views from the conservatory are the best. The kitchen is well equiped. The house is big, we were with 2 persons and our dog. We Did not use all of the house. The garden is fully enclosed, our dog had a great time there. There is garden furniture, a bbq. Parkingspace in own garden. The bed was already made, that was a great start of the holiday. Nice That there was already al kind of things in the house, like coffee, tea, cleaningstuff. But the ...

But the best part: .Michael was our host and nothing was too much. He owns also the local pub accros the street. Micheal is a real gem! And the inhabitants of Aughnacliffe we met made our stay unforgatable. We felt part of the community for 3 weeks. Never a boring moment, great place for trips in Longford, Cavan, Letrim. Also check out LeebeenPark. A local park , with running tracks , place to let the dog run free, and a playgarden.

The property

A bright comfortable cottage near Aughnacliffe, a small village in County Longford, less than half an hour’s drive from the county town itself.

The cottage is set solely over the ground floor, meaning those who struggle with steps can get around with ease.

It also creates a nice social base for friends and families holidaying together in this beautiful part of the world!

There are three welcoming bedrooms, two with twin beds and one master bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite wet room-style shower room.

There is also a family bathroom.

The open plan living area is light and spacious, offering somewhere for cooking, preparing a picnic whilst planning the day’s excursions, or relaxing with your feet up and enjoying the beautiful, luscious country views from large picture windows that encircle the seating area.

The separate sitting room has an open fire so when the weather is dreary, you can stay cosy and warm after a long day out walking and exploring.

There is a lawn to side of the cottage where the children can run around and play, and you can enjoy the sunshine and admire the wonderful Longford countryside and views which stretch to Lough Gowna.

Surrounded by such picturesque scenery, the cottage is certainly a wonderful choice for a relaxing break in the Irish country!

The village of Aughnacliffe has two pubs and a local shop where you can pick up your morning paper and essentials, and Leebeen Park offers a brilliant children’s playground!

You can take a stroll around the lough or move on to Lough Gowna and enjoy fishing, where you will find good stocks of Pike.

About the location

AUGHNACLIFFE, COUNTY LONGFORD

Ballinamuck 6 miles; Granard 8.5 miles; Longford 13 miles.

Located midway between the towns of Longford and Cavan is the small, scenic village of Aughnacliffe in North County Longford. The village is regularly referred to as a fisherman’s paradise as there is an abundance of lakes on the doorstep, including the impressive Lough Gowna, perfect for pike, trout and bream fishing. Lough Gowna is also home to the island of Inchmore where the remains of a historic monastery lie. Aughnacliffe is literally translated to ‘Field of the stones’ and named after the two prehistoric portal tombs that are located here, the Aughnacliffe Dolmen and the Cleenrath Dolmen, dating back to roughly 3800BC. Aughnacliffe is also home to Leebeen Park, with a walkway along the lake shore, a children’s play area and outdoor exercise equipment. A wonderful base to discover this scenic region.
