The property

When you find yourself in need of a real escape, a log cabin on the shores of a lough must surely be the kind of thing you have in mind.

And with room for a large family or group of friends to come along, everyone can enjoy this idyllic holiday adventure!

Ardcuillean is set right on the waters of Lough Allen, with the added benefit of direct private lough access and even a private slipway for the sailors among you.

The small village of Ballinagleragh is just 2 miles away from the cabin, offering a few shops and pubs, so why not cycle through wonderful green countryside to stock up on essentials before heading back to the cabin to while away the day on the patio or paddling on the rocky lough shore?

Fun times can be spent together round the dinner table in the well-equipped kitchen, or enjoying some friendly rivalry in the sitting room, which houses an air hockey table and pool table, as well as comfy sofas for relaxing together to catch up.

The bedrooms in the cabin are welcoming, with a family room offering two triple bunks for a real ?sleepover?

adventure, and a couple of double rooms, one with an en-suite.

There is plenty of space to leave the cars and head out on bikes or just on foot to explore the green Leitrim countryside.

Or if you wish to head further afield, you can enjoy horse riding, Marble Arch Caves, Carrick-on-Shannon and Lough Key Forest Park.

From watersports, beaches and boat trips to tiny town eateries and traditional Irish music in the local village pub, this cabin, this county and this country are all ensure you experience the best Ireland has to offer.

About the location

BALLINAGLERA, COUNTY LEITRIM

Drumshanbo 8 miles; Carrick-on-Shannon 16 miles; Sligo 28 miles.

The small village of Ballinaglera lies on the shores of Lough Allen in County Leitrim. The village is served by two shops and two pubs but the main attraction has to be the Lough, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which boasts a plentiful supply of fish year all year round and hosts many annual fishing contests. Ballinaglera has its own outdoor adventure centre with activities such as canoeing, kayaking and wind-surfing available. There are also numerous opportunities for mountain biking and walking in this scenic part of Ireland. Leitrim has a rich mining history with the last mine closing in 1990. The countryside was also inspiration for the poet William Butler Yeats with the beautiful Glencar waterfall mentioned in his poem, The Stolen Child. Further afield, you will find the town of Drumshanbo, which hosts regular music festivals and has a plethora of shops and pubs. The towns of Sligo, Enniskillen and Carrick-on-Shannon are within easy reach as well making Ballinaglera a perfect location for all the family.

Note: Property sleeps max. 8 adults as single top bunks are suitable for teenagers/children only.
