The town of Belturbet is located in County Cavan, just one hour and forty minutes’ drive from Dublin, 10 miles from Cavan town, 8 miles from Ballyconnell and nestled halfway between Lough Oughter and Upper Lough Erne. Located on the banks of the River Erne, it has its own marina and is a haven for keen anglers or for those planning a boating holiday. Indeed, the town is considered by many to be one of the best fishing spots in Ireland with direct access to the Shannon-Erne waterway. Adjacent to Belturbet is the impressive Slieve Russell Hotel Golf and Country Club, one of Cavan’s main attractions. This picturesque town always has a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere, as well as a number of good pubs, some of which offer live traditional music at the weekends. There is also a leisure centre and a selection of dining options. Belturbet’s central location also makes the area a fantastic touring base for exploring Ireland.
