Once home to the local priest and their staff, it has been lovingly taken care of to provide a unique holiday home in Loughmourne, County Monaghan, still retaining many original period features, such as the floor tiling, and original fireplaces.

Enter through the grand hallway, and begin to explore this spacious property, find the sitting room to be home to a collection of soft seating in a classic style, with a TV to entertain, you can relax here amidst the quaint style and the original ornate open fireplace.

An elegant dining room provides a lovely space to come together with your loved ones, while the kitchen/diner is a homely setting, warmed in winter by the imposing oil fired range, you can prepare delicious meals here for all the family.

The ground-floor shower room was once the cook's living quarters, and the original oven stove has been kept in here as a rustic decorative feature.

Upstairs on the first floor are the beautiful bedrooms, all in-keeping with the vintage style of the property, you can choose from either three king-size bedrooms, a double bedroom or a single bedroom, with the latter once used as prayer room.

The area of Loughmourne is well-known for its excellent shooting and fishing, head to the Lough Mourne Shooting Grounds, where you can go clay pigeon shooting, as well as practice in the shooting range, and if you're a complete beginner, don't worry as there are expert instructors there to show you what to do.

Covering an area of 117 hectares, Lough Egish is an island studded lake where you can head out on a boat and enjoy some fishing, with upwards of ten lakes in the area you have plenty of choice for where to go.

The town of Castleblayney is where you can find a selection of pubs and shops to serve you on your self-catered stay, as well as the amazing Lough Muckno and Muckno Park, set over 900 acres, you can try some amazing watersports on the lake with Lough Muckno Adventure, embark on a walk around the waters, or play a scenic round of golf at either Castleblayney Golf Club, or Concra Wood Golf & County Club, the latter of which is set right next to the water's edge.

This vibrant town lies above the western shore of Lough Muckno, the largest freshwater lake in County Monaghan, and is positioned on the main Dublin/Derry Road some 66 miles from Dublin and 60 miles from Belfast in Northern Ireland. Interestingly the name of the town derived from the Blayney Family, who arrived in the area in 1611. Lough Muckno is set within 900 acres of parkland, arguably the town's greatest attraction, drawing in visitors from all over, with forest trails, diverse wildlife and a selection of watersports activities. There is also the Concra Wood Golf and Country Club overlooking the lough, an 11-hole course luring you close to the water edge, with stunning views over to the Monaghan drumlins and distant mountains. You also have the Iontas Theatre, GR8 Entertainment ten pin bowling, the Quad Biking Activity Centre and a small selection of pubs, shops and eateries. The town also stages an annual summer event in July each year called the Muckno Mania Festival with an array of activities promoting the arts, creatives, sports fanatics, music and dance.
