“We always go somewhere different - until now! Wonderful and peaceful”

We have travelled a good amount through the world (eg: Kenya, Maldives, Goa, Bali, Florida to name a few), and whilst we have many places we would like to go again we never have because there are so many places left to visit - until now! Never have we felt so comfortable, never so welcome (both by the owners and the Irish people), never so relaxed, never so much to do if we can drag ourselves away from 'home'. Add to that the view, the sound of the sea (Ceol Na Mara appropriately translates as music of the sea), places to eat and shop nearby but not on the doorstep, etc., and we found so much perfection that we have already decided to return next year, probably for 2 weeks. I could write a whole chapter in praise but read all the other positive reviews - there is no need to repeat them they are all true and cover it well. To be a genuine review it has to find a negative somewhere, so after much pondering I would say that the en-suite rooms are a bit small but that is about as nit-picking as you can get! Things to do, places to go - in a week we only scratched the surface - magnificent scenery in all directions (we visited The Burren, Loop Head, Cliffs of Moher, all spectacular), horse riding, fishing, golf etc. etc, several towns around with varied shopping at reasonable prices, fuel for the car within 2 miles (Diesel cheaper than UK), Supermarkets, and above all restaurants. A warning though - if you want to go to a restaurant make very sure that you are hungry first - the helpings seem to cater for the USA market!

The property

Situated high on a cliff, overlooking a beautiful sandy beach, a single storey wing of the owner's home in Spanish Point on the west coast of County Clare, Ceol Na Mara is a wonderfully relaxing place to spend your Irish cottage vacation.

Boasting two en-suite bedrooms with beautiful sea views, the Atlantic Ocean on the doorstep, and a large garden with patio area, this Spanish Point cottage is the ideal family getaway.

Set entirely over the ground floor, this Spanish Point cottage is ideally located in close proximity to all of Spanish Point's amenities.

Make the short walk to Spanish Point's sandy beach and enjoy a day splashing about in the water; with safe bathing waters and lifeguards on hand, the more adventurous can try out some of the watersports on offer, and for the complete novice, lessons are available also.

After a busy day playing in the sand and the sea, return home to this inviting Spanish Point cottage, wine and dine, and enjoy some time in the garden before retiring to one of the lovely bedrooms to drift off to sleep admiring the beautiful, tranquil views - bliss!

About the location

SPANISH POINT, COUNTY CLARE

Miltown Malbay 1.5 miles; Ennis 20 miles.

The village of Spanish Point is situated on the west coast of County Clare in Ireland and takes its name from the Spanish who died there in 1588, when many ships of the Spanish Armada were wrecked during the stormy weather. Today the village consists of many holiday homes, two fine hotels, a lovely beach, which is popular for swimmers and surfers alike, and a nine-hole golf course, which is one of the oldest courses in Ireland and offers wonderful views of the rugged coastline. The small town of Miltown Malbay is 1.5 miles away, offering a selection of shops and pubs, while the seaside town of Lahinch is also close by, offering great surfing opportunities. Visit the Cliffs of Moher, north of Lahinch and also Doolin, which offer superb views of the North Atlantic and the Aran Islands in clear weather, or travel further afield to Clare's County town of Ennis, which boasts unusual shops, bars, restaurants and a lively Irish music scene.

As of 2019 - Heating or electricity will not be included in the price - this is on a meter.

As of 2019 - No children under 12 years accepted at the property
