Everything was excellent.
“We were very impressed by the host, Patrick who communicated with us before arriving and then followed up by meeting and leading us to his Sanctuary.”
It was extremely helpful that he took us through tour of home and reviewed any special considerations. The location worked very well for our party of 8. Home was clean, spacious, and uniquely decorated. We would recommend consideration for other travellers.
“Relaxing property, great location, lovely host”
We stayed as a family group of 9. The property is outstanding and filled with the hosts interesting and tasteful ornaments, paintings etc from across the world, really gives some additional character to the property. Our kids loved the chess board and piano and the wifi kept them busy in quiet moments. The setting is in the middle of the forest and gives a safe area for the children to play in. The property is pretty much 30mins from anywhere you would want to go in Co Clare and only an hour from Galway so the location is fantastic. Pat the owner couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating, a really top man. We had a great time and if were ever over that way again would definitely book the property a second time.
“This was one of the most memorable holidays I have spent in Ireland.”
The property provided the ideal setting for our family gathering. The Sanctuary itself lived up to it's name, as soon as you stepped inside the door you felt at home. There was a wonderful feel to the house, all the personal nic nacs added to the ambience and the setting was just amazing and tranquil, surrounded by trees and the sound of birds. This was definitely a unique experience, it has something special to offer. Loved every minute there and can't wait to come back.
“Maison cossue avec charme "Old fassionned" Maison accueillante chaude avec la cheminee Décoré avec goût et Avec de bonne prestations , literie et linges de qualité Et bonus avec salon musicale piano Salon de luxe et piano de cuisine de luxe.”
Perdu dans la nature mais amplement idéal pour découvrir la région de Galway. .
“The property is superb and if anything the listing doesn't actually do the property justice in the flesh.”
Pat was the most accommodating and welcoming host and clearly wants his guests to have a great time. Would recommend to anyone waiting a relaxing holiday at a property that is perfectly located to explore Co Clare and Galway.
“Tranquil beautiful home close to best beaches”
We stayed here for the June bank holiday, it was the most beautiful houses, comfortable, beautiful decor, large comfy beds, best stocked kitchen for cooking, lovely outdoor seating areas for BBQ (it helped immensely that we were experiencing a heatwave this weekend). Half hour drive to Doolin Pier, Lahinch beach. There were 8 adults, 2 children and a pup and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Pat was a wonderful host and left a nice welcome package for us.
“Brilliant spot all round!”
We stayed here for 3 nights in Feb 2016 and totally fell in love with the place. Pat was an excellent host, he met us nearby to help us navigate to the cottage and even provided some wine, cheese & crackers for weary travellers! Much appreciated. The place itself is beautifully renovated, and there is plenty of space. We loved having the fire (and a smart TV!), wifi worked brilliantly and so did the heating. The Sanctuary is a great base for exploring the local area but would also be a lovely place to hole up for several days and not need to venture out. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, we will definitely be returning!

The well-equipped kitchen is traditionally finished with an AGA range, and is perfect for preparing tasty meals for everyone to enjoy while talking about the day’s experiences.
After dinner, head to one of the two sitting rooms, one of which has an open fire and a piano and the other a solid fuel stove, and put your feet up and take it easy after a long day of being out and about while sharing your new photos online.
At the back of the property you will find a lawned garden as well as two patio areas with furniture (one accessed from the kitchen and the other made of local Liscannor stone slabs off the sitting room), excellent for the children to run around and play, while the grown-ups relax with a well-earned drink.
It is also a fantastic location to enjoy views of the night sky.
Watch out for the local wildlife, you may see one of the visiting hares or foxes or even some of the deer that roam in the forestry nearby!
