  • Christine

“The kitchen utensil and pots where clean, the beds where comfortable, it is close to the village, not a completely closed garden, but very good size, The only down side is the bathrooms need to be revamped, we had a great time and the owner was very helpful to us.”

About the location

KILKEE, COUNTY CLARE

Kilrush 8 miles.

Kilkee is a charming seaside town on the western coast of County Clare overlooking the mile-long horseshoe bay, with a gently sloping safe and sandy Blue Flag beach that is protected from the Atlantic weather by the Duggerna Reef, which stretches across the mouth of the bay. Kilkee has a well deserved reputation as the safest bathing place in Ireland with bathing and swimming enjoyed at all stages of the tide. The Kilkee Surf School runs surf camps for children aged 9 to 16 at Kilkee and Doughmore beaches every week of the summer holidays or why not try Waterworld? A popular all-weather facility, Waterworld has a range of indoor water attractions including a bubble pool, shower geysers, the 'lazy river ride' and a 61m crystal tower slide, and the Thalassotherapy Centre which offers a variety of sea based therapies. The 18-hole championship golf course is situated on the road towards George's Head and stretches along the spectacular cliffs. There are also numerous walks with cliff scenery that can only be described as spectacular. Kilkee has a variety of cafes and restaurants specialising in locally caught fish and shellfish, while the pubs and lounge bars have regular music competitions, traditional Irish nights, cabaret, dancing and pub theatre. Dolphin watching can be enjoyed at nearby Carrigaholt, while activities including sailing, scuba diving, birdwatching and horse riding are available in the area. Something for everyone!
