We found the house poorly equipped for visitors. Not enough cutlery for 8 people dishes and plates old and shabby saucepans old and worn. The rubbish bins left a lot to be desired in this day and age. We had to do our own recycling ( bring recycling to a centre). No oil fired central heating (in Summer) even though it was quite cold at night. And the website stated it had oiled fire heating. Both showers were useless. The upstairs one was in a jacuzzi bath( that did not work) with a slanted roof over the bath so you could not stand up. The downstairs shower was broken and very difficult to turn on and off. There was one day we could not turn off the water at all and had to call the owner. The owner made no attempt to contact us during our stay. It was up to us to contact her regarding different things in the house. Will not recommend this house to family or friends.

About the location

KILKEE, COUNTY CLARE

Kilrush 8 miles.

Kilkee is a charming seaside town on the western coast of County Clare overlooking the mile-long horseshoe bay, with a gently sloping safe and sandy Blue Flag beach that is protected from the Atlantic weather by the Duggerna Reef, which stretches across the mouth of the bay. Kilkee has a well deserved reputation as the safest bathing place in Ireland with bathing and swimming enjoyed at all stages of the tide. The Kilkee Surf School runs surf camps for children aged 9 to 16 at Kilkee and Doughmore beaches every week of the summer holidays or why not try Waterworld? A popular all-weather facility, Waterworld has a range of indoor water attractions including a bubble pool, shower geysers, the 'lazy river ride' and a 61m crystal tower slide, and the Thalassotherapy Centre which offers a variety of sea based therapies. The 18-hole championship golf course is situated on the road towards George's Head and stretches along the spectacular cliffs. There are also numerous walks with cliff scenery that can only be described as spectacular. Kilkee has a variety of cafes and restaurants specialising in locally caught fish and shellfish, while the pubs and lounge bars have regular music competitions, traditional Irish nights, cabaret, dancing and pub theatre.
