The property

The town of Cahersiveen is perched on the Ring of Kerry, on the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry. The town is a great base for exploring this scenic coastal corner of Ireland, with beautiful seascapes to one side and undulating countryside stretching back inland on the other. Just two miles away is The Old School House, a wonderful semi-detached cottage beside the owner’s home, with picturesque views of the sea from the doorstep and front garden. Downstairs are two bright, spacious rooms bursting with quirky character and fun, charming features. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious, with a lovely dining table in the corner by the window where you can all sit and enjoy breakfast as you plan the day, or reminisce over delicious home-cooked meals and a glass of wine. The front door opens into the sitting room where you’ll find an open fire and an open tread spiral staircase leading upstairs to three bedrooms and the shower room. Two of the rooms have double beds and the third has two single beds, providing flexibility for friends or family holidaying together. Outside, the garden is the perfect place to escape to when the sun is shining. The garden to the front of the cottage is shared, with a stunning, distant view of the coastline, but at the back of the cottage you’ll find a second lawned garden that is for your use only. There is garden furniture here too, so you can dine outside and sit with a refreshing drink after a long day out and about exploring the area. The town of Cahersiveen is lively and bustling, with lots of shops, pubs and places to grab a tasty bite to eat; no wonder it attracts so many visitors! As well as being situated on the Ring of Kerry, the Wild Atlantic Way also passes through the town on its way to Bray Head on Valentia Island. The island is very easy to reach, with boat trips available from Cahersiveen’s marina. White Strand is the nearest beach to the cottage, just four miles away, and was awarded Blue Flag status in 2015. It makes up part of Valentia Harbour and enjoys glorious views of Valentia Island and Begnis Island, with lots of marked walking routes and historical sites nearby, including Ballycarbery Castle and Leacanabuaile Forts. There is so much to see and do in this splendid area, a stay at The Old School House is sure to be a holiday home to remember!
