“The Good: The property and holiday experience itself was great.”

The O'Regan's made sure we had everything we needed and were very helpful in giving us info we needed about the area to ensure we had a splendid time. The Bad: The only headache was having to re-schedule the holiday for September (it was originally planned for April) because of COVID. I didn't mind the re-scheduling itself too much because that is understandable. What was annoying was having to pay an extra £150 to reschedule it. The Bad: The only headache was having to re-schedule the holiday for September (it was originally planned for April) because of COVID. I didn't mind the re-scheduling itself too much because that is understandable. What was annoying was having to pay an extra £150 to reschedule it. (This was the cheapest week to re-schedule; a week before or after would have set us back an additional £300!!) I felt that was unfair, and wish that Sykes Cottages would have allowed us to re-schedule with no extra cost. I understand that COVID wasn't their fault, but it wasn't ours either; and I felt it was unfair for them to take it out of our hides.

About the location

CARRIGADROHID, COUNTY CORK

Macroom 4.4 miles; Cork 19 miles; Killarney 33 miles.

Carrigadrohid is a village in County Cork and is placed on the north bank of the River Lee. The village is home to a shop and pub and also to Carrigadrohid Castle built in the 15th century by the MacCarthys of Muskerry. Nearby is the small market town of Macroom nestled in the picturesque valley of the Sullane River and is dominated by the walls of Macroom Castle. This bustling town offers a choice of shops, restaurants and pubs, three hotels and still holds a twice weekly street market. One of Macroom's best kept secrets, Castle Demesne, is set amidst hundreds of acres of mystical woodland, awash with secluded riverside walks and stunning, panoramic views of the town, while three miles from Macroom lie western Europe's only extensive remains of Alluvial Forest. Carrigaphooca Castle, stood on an outcrop of rock, high above the trees is worth a visit, while the fabulous cities of Cork and Killarney are within easy touring distance, as are the stunning beaches of West Cork.
