  • “Picture-perfect get-a-way in Castletownbere”

This house was amazing; we've stayed at lots of holiday homes in Ireland, and this was one of the best! This house was amazing; we've stayed at lots of holiday homes in Ireland, and this was one of the best! The location was perfect: the house is surrounded by well-kept shrubbery and hedges, giving it a secluded feel, but within easy walking distance of the quaint town of Castletownbere. Upon arrival we discovered a lavish welcome pack of fresh fruit, biscuits, tea, two kinds of bread, butter and jam, and a quart of milk! The house is beautiful and definitely not a typical rental, more like an up-scale Irish home. The kitchen was incredibly well-stocked, with beautiful crockery and glasses, and new pots and pans and skillets, which made cooking a breeze. The beds were delightfully comfortable, the showers supplied instantaneous hot water with great pressure, and the bed linens and towels were thick and plush. It was a bit nippy some mornings, but not to worry-you could turn on the heat in whatever room you desired, and it quickly took the chill off. Every room was immaculately clean and well-appointed, and the gardens were beautiful. The surrounding area was quiet and peaceful, with sheep and cows and an occasional hare for company. No wonder this house is usually rented; if you see that it's available, book it! You'll be so glad you did!
