    “First impressions were terrible.”

House needs a good painting. Paint on window frames all peeling off. Windows are filthy and covered in cobwebs with dead insects. Inside of windows covered in cobwebs and dead insects also. Some windows don't open at all and others don't close properly. Had to clean the fridge as there is no door on the icebox compartment so keeps defrosting and food in corners. Couldn't use toaster as covered in grease and dirt. There's a balcony but no furniture to sit on. There's an ironing board but no iron ...

There's an ironing board but no iron. There's a washing machine but nowhere to dry clothes ie no washing line, clothes horse or dryer. The worst part is every night all these little centipede type insects keep coming out of the cracks and holes in the ceiling and walls in the bedroom and bathroom. We were killing on average about 12 to 15 each night. It was horrendous. Had to check all the nooks and crannies and kill them before going to bed. The bedroom has 2 windows one has a lace curtain and the other has a dirty curtain. There are 2 ledges and beams in the bedroom and they had loads of cobwebs and dead insects. We spent the first few hours hoovering and cleaning. Not what we planned for our holiday. It was the worst house I have ever stayed in and would not recommend it to anyone. The only plusses are the location. Set in the countryside on a working farm. Very handy for touring Sheepshead and Mizen peninsulas. The description on Hogans cottages is nothing like the reality. There is no downstairs bedroom as advertised and no bath. If you don't like cats be aware that there are 3 pet cats wandering around the property. Never again.
