“A very cosy cottage sited in its own sheltered grounds just a short distance away from the farmhouse of owners Andrew and Nora (not forgetting their friendly labrador, Molly).”
Thanks again for the gift of eggs, Nora.
The rural setting is very peaceful. There is a quiet pub (O’Driscoll’s) at Reenascreena, less than half an hour’s walk away - 5 mins by car.

The town of Clonakilty is a 15 minute drive away and is where the Michael Collins House Museum is to be found. We had nice meals at O’Donovan’s Hotel on the main street in Clon.
Skibbereen Heritage Centre (20 mins or so in the opposite direction) tells the history of The Irish Famine of the 1840s as well as that of nearby Lough Hyne, Ireland’s first marine nature reserve.
There are plenty of opportunities to walk in the area if history is not your “thing”. There’s a very relaxed feel to this part of West Cork. People are chatty and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at An Grianan.
