Patrick Joseph House can be found resting in a remote area of County Donegal, on the outskirts of Selacis and with views over the Blue Stack Mountains, it provides the ultimate relaxing retreat for families and groups of friends.

Named after the owner's late father, this homely abode makes a wonderful base to return to each evening after exploring the delights of Donegal and beyond.

Kick off your boots and step inside to the spacious sitting room, the hub of the house with enough room to seat everyone comfortably between the plush corner sofa and reclining arm chairs, this neutrally decorated room makes a fabulous social spot, with the open fire bringing a welcoming warmth to the room in the winter months.

The well-equipped kitchen/diner also offers a fantastic social aspect, where you can gather around the dining table to discuss the day's events as the chef of the group prepares a lovingly-made meal with the assistance of the good range of appliances at hand between here and the convenient utility.

When it's time to unwind, take your pick from four well-presented bedrooms, with two twin bedrooms on the ground-floor sharing an impressive bathroom with all bath, handheld shower and separate walk-in shower, and a double and twin on the first floor sharing a bathroom with the same structure, you can ensure that each guest has an equally snug spot to rest, with the benefit of ample storage space in each room too.

Let your canine companion out to stretch their legs on the lawned area before heading out to explore the wonders of the local area, with plenty of walking routes and tracks to explore, the property is in the perfect location for the avid explorer, with the nearby Slieve League sea cliffs being well-worth venturing to for the perfect picnic and unbelievable seascapes, or why not embark on a journey up the Blue Stack Mountains, with wonderful fishing opportunities between here and the Killybegs Harbour, there's so much outdoor adventure awaiting to be discovered in County Donegal.

For all of your local amenities, take a scenic car journey into the town of Donegal, with a range of shops from places to pick up last-minute ingredients to independent delights, as well as a good selection of eateries to take your pick from, you can find all you could need for a self-catered stay within this bustling market town.

Take a day trip to the heritage town of Ardara with its even more impressive Blue Flag beaches, or choose to simply soak up the scenery from your beautiful holiday cottage, Patrick Joseph House.

About the location

Ballyshannon 14 miles; Bundoran 18 miles; Glenveagh National Park 40 miles.

The bustling market town of Donegal Town is situated in the south of the county at the point where the River Eske flows into Donegal Bay. Rich in history, the town was founded as a result of the 17th century Ulster Plantation planned around the Donegal Diamond, and is home to Donegal Castle and Murvagh Beach. The area is fantastic for fishing, with numerous suitable rivers and lakes available. For golfers, Donegal Golf Club and Murvagh Links Course provide a great game against a stunning backdrop. The dramatic sandy beach at Rossnowlagh is backed by wonderful cliff views of Slieve League, and is framed by the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, making a wonderful day out. For a great taste of the lovely Irish scenery, enjoy a drive along the Glengesh Pass, while Slieve League, Glenveagh National Park and Castle and Malin Head are all worth a visit, or enjoy Donegal Festival in July or the Taste of Donegal Food Festival in Late August.
