    “Guests need to be aware that the front door is shared by the owners and then you go straight upstairs to the flat above which is like going upstairs in someone’s house.”

    There is no door for privacy or self containment and this allows anyone to walk straight in at anytime (which someone did, obviously thinking we’d all gone out) The flat sleeps 7/8 in very comfortable beds with lovely en-suite facilities but the small kitchen/lounge/ diner would really only accommodate 4 at a squeeze. There is little sound proofing even with lovely plush carpets and we could hear the owners downstairs talking until the early hours one night. Not great when we had all hoped ...

Other local beaches include Silver Starnd, Port, Muchross Head, Finta Beach, Portnoo or admire the dramatic fell at Asaranka Waterfall.

Nestled in the village of Teelin, aboard a Sliabh Liag Boat Trip, tour Teelin Pier, bustling with boat cruises, and climb Sliabh Liag Cliff Experience & Visitor Centre, offering guided tours of the region.

If you'd prefer an indoor activity, travel to Glencolmcille Folk Village, a charming museum, covering history from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, whilst both Rossan Point, and the Natural Heritage Area of Crocknamurrin Mountain Bog will offer panoramic views across both the coast and countryside.

To learn traditional Irish music there is Glen Fiddle School, and Kilcar Fleadh during summer or to study the language there is the renowned Oidas Gael.

Carrick is often referred to as the gateway village to the majestic Slieve League cliffs, is situated in South West Donegal. This small vibrant village is popular with international visitors throughout the year. Carrick has a rich culture, and its residents pride themselves on the stunning scenery and landscapes in the locality. The village is the perfect base for hill walkers and hikers of all ages and abilities. A short drive takes you to the cliffs at Slieve League which at 601m high are one of the highest marine cliffs in Europe with truly breathtaking views from the summit. Just a short drive away is the village of Teelin, once Ireland’s main fishing port, but now that title has been awarded to the town of Killybegs just a little further afield. Here you will find some of Donegal’s best seafood, which should only be washed down with a pint of Guinness! Carrick is the perfect base for touring this county with the historic village of Glencolumbkille only a 10 minute drive away and a little further takes you to Adara. Carrick also has many beaches within close proximity, as well as the beautiful Glen River which offers fishing and waterfalls. The unusual coastline, formed by round white stones at the coast of Port, is a beautiful attraction, and you can also climb the 152 steps to the Silver Strand at Malin Beag.
