“We have just returned from our holiday in September.”

What a fantastic place. Everything you could possibly want or need. Extremely comfortable, lovely house with incredible views. They've thought of everything. We were very sad to leave and would love to go back one day and would definitely recommend to others. A good price for what you get. Thank you!

A reverse-level property, you'll find everything you need for a self-catering stay for a family of six, with bright and airy living spaces to enjoy the stunning views overlooking Sheephaven Bay, Muckish Mountain beyond and even Tramore Beach.

When you arrive there's off-road parking for two cars and stone steps leading up to the entrance; Up The Hill has been finished to a high standard with a homely interior and contemporary amenities.

Head straight up stairs to the first-floor, open-plan living area where the fully-equipped kitchen is sure to please the family chef with an AGA, built-in appliances, and plenty of preparation space.

Large windows and skylights bring in plenty of light and frame far-reaching views of the coast, which you can admire whilst dining with your loved ones at the table for eight.

Spend relaxing evenings in the sitting area with plush sofas and a TV for evening entertainment, or if you haven't had enough of those stunning views, step onto the first-floor terrace to take in the sunset. You'll also find a barbecue at Up The Hill to dine al fresco on summer evenings!

Back inside, the ground floor hosts a cloakroom to freshen up after the day's adventures, as well as two bedrooms, each beautifully furnished with cheerful hues. The super king-size has a large window so you'll wake up to sea views, as well as built in wardrobes and a TV, and the neighbouring twin room has two 4' double beds, storage space, and is ideal for younger guests.

Both bedrooms are served by a contemporary bathroom with a roll-top bath, heated towel rail, and generous walk-in shower to unwind after busy days.

Down the stairs, another en-suite bedroom awaits with a super king-size bed, ample storage and a cot – this open plan room boasts a seating area with TV and a music system.

When it's time to explore, Downings is a great base for exploring County Donegal with the Wild Atlantic Way on its doorstep; dine at the popular Fisk Seafood restaurant located next door to the Harbour Bar (5minute walk) or a stroll down to the Goose & Gander Pizzeria, but if you prefer cooking at home, there are a selection of convenience stores nearby.

There are many more options and details can be found in the helpful Visitors Book at the house.

The highly regarded Olde Glen Bar with its Bia Box for daytime eating and stunning dining room for evening meals – cooked by the acclaimed Ciaran Sweeny and his team – is a 15 minute drive away but you should make a reservation ahead of your visit as it gets very booked up.

Just north of the property brings you to Boyeeghter Bay, or Murder Hole Beach.

For avid golfers, Rosapenna Golf Pavilion is a short drive away and close to Tramore, a beautiful stretch of sand to walk, sunbathe, or paddle the shores.

For more attractions, visit the historic Doe Castle or pack your hiking boots to explore Glenveagh National Park, a sprawling landscape with a deer forest, lake, and mountains; there's something for the whole family, including Glenveagh Castle and Astelleen Burn Waterfall.
