The property

Colbha is a delightful, detached cottage, set in a lovely rural location a couple of miles from Portsalon, elevated above the sea in charming County Donegal. With far-reaching views stretching over the fields all the way to the Blue Flag beach of Ballymastocker Bay, just 10 minutes’ walk away, this is a lovely holiday home for a varied break. The accommodation is bright, airy and thoughtfully equipped with three comfortable bedrooms, one a double set on the ground floor along with a shower room, and the other two situated on the first floor alongside a cosy family bathroom. The sitting room comes with a dining area and is complemented by a toasty open fire, which you light on a chilly day, before sharing plans over a delicious dinner, or simply sit back and relax beside the flames. A conservatory provides additional space for those seeking a little quiet time, and what could be better than a morning coffee here, with the sight of the sun glinting off the sea in the distance? Step outside and enjoy a picnic on the raised patio – the perfect place to settle on a sunny afternoon; why not fire up the barbecue and roast some fresh, local seafood, enjoying the extensive views towards the Knockalla Mountains? The celebrated beach at Portsalon, deemed the second most beautiful in the world, is just a short stroll away. You can easily while away your day on the immaculate golden sand, before taking a dip in the tropical-looking, turquoise waters. The sunsets from this beach are also incredible, and being so close to the cottage, a quick evening walk to make the most of them is easily achieved. Golfers will adore a round at Portsalon’s links course, with exceptional views over the peninsula and the sparkling waters beyond. Sarah’s pub/restaurant, which sits beside the sea just a short drive away, offers delightful seafood and a beautiful view to match. The entire craggy coastline of County Donegal, dominated by towering sea cliffs, inlets and loughs, can be explored along the Wild Atlantic Way. Discover some of the best beaches in all of Ireland, hidden amongst the rugged headland, or stop to admire the collection of birds, blown in on the Atlantic winds, which flock back to this beautiful area year after year. Take the road north to Fanad Head, less than half an hour’s drive away, where its prominent lighthouse proudly sits on the rocky shore. Colbha is a lovely cottage, set in a fantastic location, perfect for your County Donegal holiday.
