Kate’s Cottage is a delightful property, perfect as a base from which to explore the attractions of Northern Ireland, with the Mourne Mountains practically on your doorstep it’s a walker’s paradise.

Enter through the gate and up the steps to the front door to let yourself in and be welcomed into a large hallway, hang up your coat on the hook and begin to get to know your home-from-home for the next several days.

Take a left into the neat and well-presented sitting room, furnished with a great balance of old and new, it contains a classic Chesterfield sofa and several wing-back chairs in front of the TV and fireplace, creating a sophisticated and tranquil place to relax in the evening.

A kitchen/diner sits near the back of the property with views out over the green grass beyond, it contains an excellent range of appliances including an electric oven and a dishwasher, while a utility room adjoining it holds the washing machine and tumble dryer.

Gather around the kitchen table to enjoy a hearty meal to re-energise you after an activity filled day, cherishing the quality time spent in the company of your loved ones.

Start your day by taking a refreshing shower in the shower room or take some time out of your day to enjoy a soak in the bath found in the bathroom down the hall which has a separate shower as well, both rooms presenting excellent facilities.

When night falls rest your head in one of the three bedrooms comprising of two doubles and a twin, with one of the doubles able to be made into a twin setup, allowing you to enjoy flexible sleeping arrangements for different party makeups.

Sit out in the garden on sunny days and relax in the sun, or make the most of the good weather and head out on a walk in the nearby Mourne Mountains.

This mountain range has been voted Northern Ireland’s favourite walking location several times, with many routes and paths to choose from, it isn’t for the faint-hearted but you will be afforded spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes when you reach the summits, and will pass rivers, reservoirs, and valleys to name a few providing an exciting day for all.

Head nearer to the coast to enjoy the Castlewellan Forest Park on a mountain bike, discover the remains of Dundrum Castle and its historic medieval past, or enjoy a spot of golf at the Royal County Down Golf Club.
