“We had a lovely week exploring the local area.”

The surrounding area is beautiful. The house is well equipped with loads of space. Both owners are friendly and are happy to answer any questions.

The property

This superb detached farmhouse is on the owner’s dry stock farm, set in the countryside of County Mayo, just across the border from the village of Milltown in County Galway.

A delightful holiday home offering comfort and quality and providing an ideal base for families and friends wishing to spend time together exploring this fabulous part of the country.

The accommodation in this farmhouse has a well-equipped kitchen where you can prepare fantastic meals to be eaten in the large dining room, which has a woodburning stove to sit around on those cool evenings.

There is also a sitting room with a superb open fire, where you can put your feet up with a cup of coffee and unwind.

The cottage also has four comfortable bedrooms on the first floor, one with an en-suite shower room, together with a bathroom which is on the ground floor.

The quiet lanes and country roads outside the cottage are absolutely perfect for walking and cycling to the local pub, which is only a half-hour walk away and each Saturday, hosts music and dancing.

The village of Ballyglass has a couple of shops if you run out of anything and is less than a mile away.

Further afield is the town of Milltown, which has a good selection of amenities, including pub, restaurant and a shop.

Visit the nearby town of Ballindine which has three pubs, plus a local restaurant and shops whilst a short drive away is Claremorris.

Galway City, with its traditional pubs and cobbled streets is only 30 miles away, and where you will find culture and tradition at its best.

If you are feeling more energetic, there are golf courses at both Claremorris and Ballinrobe or spend the day at the races in Ballinrobe.

There are so many attractions in the area and the historic village of Cong, or the harbour town of Westport and Ashford Castle are certainly not to be missed.

Lough Corrib, Lough Mask and Connemara are also within easy reach and are really stunning.

A lovely family cottage from which to explore the whole of this beautiful part of Ireland.
