The quiet lanes and country roads outside the cottage are absolutely perfect for walking and cycling to the local pub, which is only a half-hour walk away and each Saturday, hosts music and dancing.
The village of Ballyglass has a couple of shops if you run out of anything and is less than a mile away.
Further afield is the town of Milltown, which has a good selection of amenities, including pub, restaurant and a shop.
Visit the nearby town of Ballindine which has three pubs, plus a local restaurant and shops whilst a short drive away is Claremorris.
Galway City, with its traditional pubs and cobbled streets is only 30 miles away, and where you will find culture and tradition at its best.
If you are feeling more energetic, there are golf courses at both Claremorris and Ballinrobe or spend the day at the races in Ballinrobe.
There are so many attractions in the area and the historic village of Cong, or the harbour town of Westport and Ashford Castle are certainly not to be missed.
Lough Corrib, Lough Mask and Connemara are also within easy reach and are really stunning.
