“The only thing that wouldn’t get 10/10 was the inconsistent WiFi signal.”

Then again, what did I expect in The Irish Countryside. Lovely place to stay and the wee one loved the horse, donkey and the frequent visits from the very friendly cat.Spotlessly clean, great heating.

The property

A beautiful, detached ground floor cottage with a private hot tub and year-round natural swimming pool, nestled on the owner’s farm in the small rural hamlet of Gorteen near Dunmore, County Galway.

Thoughtfully finished with sumptuous, stylish furnishings, this charming well-appointed cottage, with its character feature beams, echoes its traditional farm building beginnings, but with all the luxury comfort and convenience you could wish for.

Set entirely over the ground floor, the accommodation includes a superb open plan living area under the high apex of the roof, allowing for a real feeling of spaciousness.

Large patio doors open to the garden, so you can allow inside a refreshing breeze during summer evenings, or get cosy in the comfortable living area, toasting your toes beside the woodburner.

There are three double bedrooms neatly tucked towards the back of the cottage, one with an en-suite and doors to the garden.

Outside, a wonderful world of luxury awaits you, with a hot tub and natural swimming pool set on the raised decking.

Sink into the bubbles after a long day of walking or cycling, or why not take a refreshing morning dip in the pool, which is untreated and naturally filtered?

The summerhouse provides plenty of shelter should you fancy dining out in the fresh air and, as the owner is a keen beekeeper, you’re welcome to sample a true taste of this stunning area with a spot of honey, bliss!

You’re also able to arrange a visit to the farmyard to feed the friendly donkey or spot the poultry and dexter cows.

The separate games room has a pool table and a darts board and the owner has thoughtfully added golf clubs and bikes, so you can make the most of the nearby courses, with Dunmore Demense Golf Course just three miles away and miles of cycling and walking to enjoy, opening up the surrounding countryside.

Dunmore nestles in a curve of the Sinking River, with a selection of amenities and a tumbledown Augustinian abbey and castle settled at the water’s edge, where you can enjoy charming riverside walks.

Galway’s history abounds here, but for a taste of western Irish culture, spend the day in vibrant Galway City, wandering its ancient cobblestones that decorate the colourful, winding streets.

This fabulous cottage has something for everyone and is the perfect place to return to after a busy day.
