    “Pet friendly quaint cottage”

Decided on a birthday treat in the far west of Ireland. 5 hour road trip from Belfast - arrived to a very friendly Irish welcome with a warming fire in the modern Wood burning stove . The cottage had great facilities and full central heating. Location was great for touring around Westport, Clifden etc. The cottage is pet friendly with a secure and secluded rear garden for calls of nature and nearby beautiful beaches make it great for dogs. Have already recommended this stay to dog owning ...

The property

This lovely detached, single-storey cottage is situated in the village of Roundstone, County Galway.

Dating back to the 19th century, this property is suitable for a couple or family who wish to explore this excellent area of the Emerald Isle.

Inside this delightful cottage is a sitting room which boasts a vaulted ceiling that has been preserved from the original cottage, along with a cosy woodburning stove.

The kitchen with dining area is well-equipped, and there are two bedrooms, consisting of a large double bedroom that leads through to a bunk bedroom.

Completing the accommodation is an en-suite shower room that both of the bedrooms share.

Outside there’s a delightful, south-facing enclosed garden with a path and seating areas, so why not light the barbecue and relax with a glass of wine, whilst reminiscing about the day you have had?

Only a short drive away from this charming holiday home are the unspoilt beaches of Gurteen Bay and Dog’s Bay, or why not enjoy a drink and fresh seafood in one of the local restaurants?

About the location

ROUNDSTONE, COUNTY GALWAY

Clifden 14.5 miles; Connemara National Park 25 miles; Galway 48 miles.

Roundstone, in the Connemara region of County Galway, lies on the western arm of Bertraghboy Bay. The entrance to Roundstone harbour is marked by a large stone, like an upturned bath tub, which is known as seals rock (Chloch na Ron) as seals like to clamber up onto it and bask in the sunshine. The bay itself is also often referred to as Roundstone Haven. Roundstone offers pubs, restaurants, cafés, shops and a children’s playground, plus there is a traditional Irish night in the summer and a number of festivals which take place throughout the year. Roundstone is full of historical and geographical points of interest, including the bell tower of the Franciscan Monastery, now standing in the Michael Killeen Park, and the remains of a monument to St Brendan on Inishnee, a small island in Roundstone Bay. A five-minute drive away are Gurteen and Dog's Bay beaches, plus attractions in the area include horse riding, deep sea fishing, hill walking and cycling. Just eight miles from Roundstone is the Connemara Golf Club and further afield there is great scenery to enjoy either on foot, bicycle or in the car. The lively town of Clifden has lots of interesting things to see, while the Connemara National Park is just a little further away and the city of Galway can be reached in an hour’s drive.
