Resting within the midlands region of Ireland, the charming town of Stradbally is a wonderful base for exploring County Laois and beyond. The birthplace of motor racing when the Gordon Bennett Cup ran through the town in July 1903, the town now stands to offer its visitors a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a good selection of amenities to take your pick from. Gather up a selection of ingredients from one of the local stores to enjoy a home-cooked meal, or while away the hours in one of the town's eateries, finishing the evening with a pint in a traditional Irish bar. Aside from its wonderful amenities, you will find the Stradbally Woodland Railway, the first volunteer-run heritage railway in Ireland, it's well-worth exploring, with its National Steam Rally making a fantastic family day out.
