“Excellent cosy comfortable cottage,pet friendly.”

We stayed at this wonderful cosy cottage over Christmas and had a wonderful time there. The kitchen is really well equipped and best of all they accept pets! The weather was really cold for our stay but apart from the regular heating, every room had extra heaters in them so we were really cosy. The cottage is just 15 minutes from Kilkenny city, and for necessities, there is a lovely supermarket in Freshford village nearby. We will be back!

This charming, stone-built cottage, located down a tranquil country lane beside the owners’ home, is just two miles from Freshford, a small village in County Kilkenny.

This delightful, semi-detached cottage near Freshford is a wonderful base for couples, and small groups of family and friends, uncovering the charm of this beautiful part of Ireland.

There are bedrooms in this County Kilkenny cottage, the master of which is upstairs on the first floor and also makes a lovely spot to curl up with a book and catch up on some reading.

Potter around the well-equipped kitchen whipping up delicious, home-cooked meals, and preparing picnics for your days out and about.

To the front of this Freshford cottage, a patio makes the perfect spot to sit out in the sunshine with a cup of tea and say hello to the chickens scuttling around the shared, well-maintained gardens.

Acquaint yourselves with the locals as you explore the village of Freshford, which encircles a pretty square lined with trees, once the site of a 7th century monastery.

Pull on your walking shoes, pack one of those picnics we discussed earlier, and explore the Freshford Loop walk, a fantastic way to experience the glorious scenery and sights of Kilkenny’s countryside, and a wonderful day out.

Fisherman can enjoy trout and salmon fishing close by, and the city of Kilkenny is just fifteen minutes away by car, its cobbled, medieval streets playing host to a wide selection of delicious gourmet restaurants, and friendly pubs and shops.

In Bennettsbridge, there are pottery and candle factories, and along the Nore, picturesque nature walks and a collection of pubs, restaurants and cafés.

With so much to see and do in this fabulous area, this Freshford cottage is the perfect base for exploring the splendid south east of the Emerald Isle.
