“Lovely accommodation in peaceful farming area with nice view across fields to low hills.”

Comfortable lounge furniture. WiFi is fast and reliable and the TV has a good selection of channels. We found the double bed rather narrow compared with our own but it was comfortable enough. Very hot and consistent shower. Well equipped kitchen lacking only a dish rack. No lighting over sink which would make washing up easier. Milk, bread and some other food items were kindly provided. The lock on the front door is difficult to turn and needs attention. We didn't find any field paths ...

We didn't find any field paths but the lanes in the area are quiet enough for safe walking. The walk round Grantstown Lake is pleasant but there was a surprising lack of birdlife on the 2 occasions we did it. Durrow and Abbeyleix are charming little towns worth visiting. We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the remarkably busy Ashbrook Arms in Durrow. Overall we enjoyed our stay and found the cottage a good base for exploring this quiet and attractive county.
