“Absolutely lovely rural spot of Ireland with local pub on the doorstep.”

    ...

Bungalow was spacious very clean with all appliances and extras even down to high chair and travel cot. All little extras to make you holiday perfect. The couple Josephine and Billy who meet us to give us the keys who are the owners were absolutely lovely. We arrived to early with our ferry crossing from England and they were so lovely allowing us in the cottage that extra early so we could catch up on some sleep. I would highly recommend and i will be returning back when i next visit Ireland as its nice to have piece of mind that the accommodation is going to be good and this is very good 10/10. Within a short drive you have the Carrick on shanon which is a lovely place to visit and easy reach within 45-60 mins to Knock and Sligo with beaches and Glencar waterfall all within short drives of location to Bungalow.

About the location

CARRICK-ON-SHANNON, COUNTY LEITRIM

Sligo Town 32 miles; Dublin 97 miles.

Carrick-on-Shannon, Ireland's loveliest riverside town, is in the county town of Leitrim, and is nestled on the most scenic stretch of the River Shannon. Internationally regarded as an angler's paradise, Carrick has hosted many national and international fishing competitions, and within a 6-mile radius, there are no less than 41 fishing lakes to enjoy. Take a walking tour of Carrick's history, enjoying a guide to the landmarks of the town, see the plaque dedicated to the famous English novelist Anthony Trollope, or visit the remains of Carrick Castle. The lands around the county borders of Sligo, Roscommon and Leitrim are amongst the most fascinating in Ireland with beautiful lakes and surrounded by the mountains containing the Carrowkeel temples to the southwest and the tall mountains to the northwest. Between these ranges are the plains of Leitrim and the dominating conical mounds known as motes or raths. These are, by legend, inhabited by the Daoine Maithe, the 'Good People'. The larger mound is celebrated in the popular poems and songs of Ireland under the name of Sigh Mor (Sheemore), and today it is lit up at night by a crucifix on its peak. With so much history to discover, Carrick's annual Water Music Festival to enjoy, and County Donegal, Londonderry and Dublin within touring distance, this is a great location for an Irish getaway.
