    “Superb place in beautiful surroundings.”

    Plenty of space for 8 people. Almost too many utensils etc...we kept finding new items. Some of the mattresses were rather soft. We had a problem with the hot water which was solved promptly by Brian - many thanks. Unfortunately we had almost continuous rain...as this area is renown for its wetness, a drying room would have been useful. Also some indoor games like table football to keep the kids amused. The joining instructions from Sykes were out of date and caused a bit of panic before ...

If you're looking for a relaxing family getaway to spend some quality time with your loved ones then look no further than this four-bedroom cottage in Ballingtogher, County Sligo, The Lake House.

The property is set in a beautiful location with lake views and character features that will make you feel like you're in a world of your own.

The property also has wonderful mountain views where you can sit and watch the world go by.

Heading inside, the kitchen/diner is a well-equipped space perfect for hosting large groups; the space has an eight-seater dining table, and is well-stocked with appliances, such as an American-style fridge/freezer, and integrated microwave and oven.

Down four steps, the sitting room with exposed beams and patio doors offers space for you to unwind in front of panoramic views while the toasty woodburning stove crackles in the background.

The study is a haven for workaholics, with views of the lake and a dedicated workspace to get your head down to it; find inspiration from the idyllic Lough Gill, which inspired the work of William Butler Yeats’ poetry.

On the lower-ground floor, the snug contains a TV and plush sofa, and is the perfect little nook to curl up in for a moment of peace.

The bathroom is thoughtfully designed and features a freestanding copper bath and patio doors that look out to the lake, perfect for a long soak with a view after a day of exploring.

Further afield, you can head into Strandhill for stunning beaches along the wild Atlantic bay or head to the lovely village of Rosses Point for a wander around the harbour.

Sligo, one of Ireland’s largest towns is a great destination set among Benbulben Mountain, Knocknarea Hill, sandy beaches, and the green countryside of the Emerald Isle. The town itself offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants with great seafood and pubs playing traditional Irish music. You won’t be stuck for things to do while in the area; go to the races and pick out the winning horse, practice your swing with a few rounds of golf, go horse riding on the beach, or relax with a spot of fishing. Sample the local culture by visiting the Yeats Memorial Building, The Model Contemporary Centre and the Hawk’s Well Theatre, one of the oldest regional theatres in the country. Take the Queen Maeve Trail to the top of Knocknarea and be sure to bring your camera along to capture the breathtaking landscape that this county has to offer.
