“I would like to mention there is a river that runs along the bottom of the garden which is mentioned on the website.”

Just to mention this is on private land that is not accessible as the gates are padlocked there has cows on this land and also there is and electric fence that runs along the river bank. This was not a concern to us but feel it may need to be mentioned in advertising literature

The property

This lovely, detached farmhouse is situated in a large courtyard with pretty outbuildings, 2.5 miles from the village of Louth, very close from the border of Monaghan.

This delightful cottage provides guests with an ideal retreat for exploring County Lough, Ireland’s smallest county.

Once inside this charming holiday home you will find a well-equipped kitchen with dining area and a cosy sitting room, and also on the ground floor is a single bedroom and shower room.

Upstairs are two further bedrooms, consisting of a double and family room, along with a bathroom, making this a perfect base for families and a group of friends.

To the outside there’s ample off road parking, and why not light the barbecue, which is situated in the front courtyard, in order to enjoy a home-cooked lunch or dinner, or relax in the enclosed lawned garden that can be found to the rear?

The River Fane runs at the bottom of the garden and is a haven for fishermen, plus there’s another lake for coarse fishing just a few minutes’ drive away.

Just 2.5 miles away is the small village of Louth, which has shops and pubs, plus close by is The Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen, and the town of Dundalk offers a number of shops, traditional pubs and places to eat, as well as a leisure centre and a children's play area.

A stay in this welcoming cottage is not complete without a trip to Dublin, the capital of Ireland, which has something for everyone.

Dublin and Belfast airports are only an hour away, making The Farmhouse an ideal, charming base.

About the location

LOUTH VILLAGE, COUNTY LOUTH

Inniskeen 3 miles; Dundalk 6 miles; Ardee 7 miles; Carlingford 26 miles.

Situated in the heart of County Louth, Ireland’s smallest county, is the village of Louth and is named after ‘Lugh’, the god of ancient Irish. The village has shops, pubs, a chemist and takeaways, and lies just an hour’s drive north of Dublin and south west of the popular town of Dundalk. Home to a welcoming community and a local shop and pub, Louth is a wonderful location for exploring this undiscovered region of Ireland. The village also has an excellent playground and pitch and putt course, with plenty of attractions within easy reach, including the Viking influenced town of Carlingford and its majestic Lough, a paradise for outdoor pursuits on land or sea, plus the nearby village of Inniskeen is home to the The Patrick Kavanagh Centre. For history enthusiasts, the high crosses at Monasterboice and Mellifont Abbey are well worth a visit. Dundalk offers a leisure centre with swimming pool and gym, and a children's activity area. There are beaches at Blackrock, Port and Annagassan, about half an hour's drive from Louth, with golf even closer at Carrickmacross and Dundalk. A delightful location for your Emerald Isle holiday.
