“Claddagh Cottage is ideal for a rural holiday away from the crowds.”

It is in the Drum Hills which are bisected by the River Lickey. Fields of grazing cattle surround the house and there are many local walks in the area without needing the car, including part of St Declan's Way. OS Ireland Map sheet 82 is highly recommended for walking and for driving around. We spent two wonderful weeks here and the weather was mostly kind. We walked out every day and explored for miles. The house has all necessary equipment for cooking and entertainment. During the Covid-19 pandemic, these are essential as evenings are spent cooking and watching TV - pubs and restaurants remaining closed. Youghal is the nearest shopping town, about seven miles, with Lidl, Tesco and SuperValu for food and drink. There are also some nice independent bakers and cafes along the main street. Clashmore is the nearest village, about four mies away with a small shop - not sure if it sells booze. The Fitzgerald family live very nearby and are excellent hosts. We can thoroughly recommend Claddagh Cottage for a holiday.
