Ardmore is a delightful seaside resort and fishing village located in County Waterford on the south coast of Ireland. St. Declan founded Ireland's early Christian settlement in Ardmore, and perched on a hill is a 12th century round tower and the ruins of Ardmore Cathedral. Several more ancient ruins can be seen along a clifftop walk, which encompasses an old coastguard station, an abandoned lookout from 1939 and a shipwreck. Ardmore has been attracting tourists and visitors for a number of years and has an abundance of attractions including several beaches, shops, pubs, restaurants, hotels, a pottery studio, art studios and a playground, and not to mention the pier where you can enjoy an ice cream and observe the local hustle and bustle. There are many fantastic attractions close by such as the forests and lakes of the Comeragh and Knockmealdown Mountains and scenic car drives on the Nire Valley Drive and the Vee Drive, all of which are within 25 miles. The magnificent estuary of the River Blackwater at Youghal offers summer boat trips. The lively seaside towns of Dungarvan and Youghal are only 15 and 10 miles away respectively and are full of heritage and culture. Kayaking, snorkelling, abseiling, surfing and fishing are available, as well as horseriding and golf.
