Stretching from Rinn Lough to the golden shores of Tullaghan, County Leitrim is a wonderful destination for a relaxing cottage holiday. Enjoy a fun-filled family holiday or a romantic break set amongst rolling peaks, enchanting woodlands and colourful towns and villages.

Why book a cottage in County Leitrim

Why not book a cottage near to Glencar Waterfall? Located close to the county's border with Sligo, the waterfall is a stunning natural attraction that is well worth a visit. Or, why not spend an afternoon relaxing by Leitrim's Lough Allen, an area of outstanding natural beauty at the heart of the county. At 11km long, the Lough is the largest lake on the River Shannon, and attracts thousands of visitors each year. There's a wide variety of water-based attractions available at Lough Allen, from wind-surfing and kayaking, to boat hire and fishing. The pretty town of Drumshanbo can be found at the southern end of the lough,at the base of Sliabh an Iarainn, translating as "mountain of the iron."

If you'd prefer to keep your feet dry then why take a day trip to one of Leitrim's characterful villages or towns, where great food and a warm welcome await. Take Leitrim's county town of Carrick-on-Shannon for example. Located on the banks of the mighty River Shannon, this unassuming Irish town is home to some of County Leitrim's most popular tourist attractions. Step through the door of Costello Chapel, one of Europe's smallest, or take a stroll along the town's redeveloped Quayside, enjoying fine views over the river.
