What a cosy cottage Ellen's House is.

It is located in a quite rural area and equipped with everything you need on your holiday. We didn't miss a thing. We had a lovely welcome gift waiting for us. Eilish is such a nice and lovely person. The house is a perfect place to discover the beautiful surroundings of Donegal. We would have loved to stay longer but will be back soon, hopefully. Thanks again for a great stay!

We had a truly relaxing break in Ellen's Cottage, which is in a peaceful yet convenient location in a beautiful part of Donegal.

It was very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Hosts were very helpful and friendly and gave lots of information of things to do during our holiday.we really enjoyed our holiday and would book again.really recommend this property

Spent the 13th -20th Sept 2025 at Ellen's Cottage, had everything we needed, very clean,tidy,comfortable and plenty of room.

Views absolutely fantastic, especially with the sunset on our last night. Perfect base for touring County Donegal and the WAW, absolutely stunning views everywhere. Eilish the owner was fantastic in keeping contact especially if you needed her. Would definitely recommend

Ellen's Cottage was perfect for a getaway to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday.

There was my mother, my 2 nieces (aged 14 and 12) and myself. The sitting room was so spacious and having the dining room was great. We had a jigsaw going all week and were able to leave it on one of the smaller tables. On the rainy day we baked and the girls painted rocks they had collected at Rossnowlagh beach. The beds were very comfortable and we all got a good night's sleep ready for sightseeing the following day. The location is just a nice distance from Donegal town. The view from the front of the house of the water is fantastic and we spent some of the nice balmy evenings enjoying the outdoors. The girls skipped and did other outdoor games and mammy loved the seating just relaxing after being away for the day. We visited Rossnowlagh where the girls swam a couple of times and also at Nairn beach. That was their highlight getting some lovely time in the water. There were wonderful facilities at both beaches especially the outdoor toilets at both, at Rossnowlagh they used the ones at the back of the Friary overlooking the beach. We would also recommend Slieve League and the shuttle bus tour from the centre. It was misty the day we were there so didn't see it at its best. We also loved Ardara, Killybegs and Rossnowlagh churches for mass. The woollen shop across from the church in Ardara is well worth a visit as they have a cottage and a loom etc. from old times. Glenties is also recommended for a visit. My brother also came for the week and stayed in a B and B in Glenties and met the sacristan at Ardara church who showed us some off the beaten track sights such as the dolmen on the way to Nairn beach. Mammy and I stayed at the centre while the others walked to it. We went to Ballymote in Sligo to visit mammy's cousin who is almost 93. We all enjoyed a lovely visit with her. It was a nice drive there. We visited Belleek pottery and did a guided tour and had lunch which we all enjoyed. We only got to see a fraction of Donegal so please God we make it back to Ellen's cottage at some time to continue our tour of Donegal.

A lovely property which I would have no hesitation in recommending.

We would definitely return if visiting the area. It was so nice that the owner (Elish) j checked in with us to ensure all was well. Cottage was so comfortable and the views are wonderful . One point to mention if you are travelling from the UK make sure your satnav is updated otherwise it won’t recognise Irish post codes. As we found out to our cost. All in all a fantastic holiday and we met some lovely Irish people.

Comfortabele cottage.

Spacious enough for 4. Small kitchen. The children liked the swing. Nice views, close to beaches. Unfortunately did not meet the owners, but Elish was very friendly and quick by email. Other things we already shared with the owners.

Enjoyed our stay immensely.

The cottage is so comfortable and well equipped with everything you need. The kitchen has all the facilities one needs Including dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer plus cups, plates, pots and pans and cutlery. The children enjoyed the swings and the open space to run about. Our week went in too quick but would definitely come back to Ellen Cottage and have no hesitation in recommending to family and friends. Anne and Roy McKee and family.

Excellent base for a holiday in the Donegal area, with views of a lake, and mountains, and a short drive to the sea.

Well equipped and good accomodation for a family of four adults. Was brilliantly surprised to see a visiting Jay on the bird nuts and a heron flying up from the field opposite. A joy for birdwatchers like myself! I would definitely consider staying there again.

Loved this cottage, was really sad to leave the house.

Ellen's cottage is very clean, top location if you love a quiet spot, beautifull vieuw on the lake and in relative short distance from Donegal.

Good information, lovely warm-welcomcard, flowers and a bottle of "lekkers" as we say in Holland (tastefull wine). We spoke the owner and they where very friendly and helpfull, 100% good Wifi and there's nothing to think that is negative of need to be updated, there was even food for the birds. What a beautiful house.

The kitchen was very well equipped. It was just so cozy with wonderful views. We did spend a lot of time watching birds come to the bird feeder just outside the bedroom window. The owners were so lovely and very responsive. We even had a phone call to check things were ok when we hadn’t arrived on the first day- the ferry had been cancelled. We would definitely come back again.

The property was absolutely beautiful we couldn't fault it at all.

It was soo clean. in a great location. The kiddies loved the swings and the garden. We would definitely return again beautiful cottage. We highly recommend it. The view from the front was just breath taking. The pics don't donut justice as it was soo much nicer. A most stay if your in Donegal.

This cottage has wonderful views over the Lough.

It is very well equipped and we spent a very comfortable week there. The area around is so beautiful and there is just so much to do. We also enjoyed an evening listening to the local music and singing.

Myself and my family had a wonderful week at this superb home.

The house itself was immaculate and well equipped. The large garden was very much enjoyed by our boys. The location was very tranquil yet close enough to Donegal town, Killybegs and surrounding beaches . We had a fantastic week and wish we could have stayed longer .

The location is tranquil and so relaxing. Everything we needed was at the cottage and there were some nice welcoming items left in the fridge from Elish and Tom. Ideal base for Donegal Town and so many other attractions in the area.

We had a lovely time exploring Donegal County.

The quiet rural location was ideal. Although we ate out most evenings the kitchen was very well equipped as was the rest of the cottage with good lounge seating and a comfortable bed. Would definitely recommend the cottage and hope to go back in the future.

We had a lovely stay at Ellen’s cottage.

The peace and quiet of the countryside and the amazing views were exactly what we were looking for. The cottage was warm and comfortable, with room for groceries in the kitchen which was well equipped with a large fridge/freezer and fan oven. The bed was very comfortable, as were the living room sofa and chairs. Elish and Tom made sure we were settled in but then left us to enjoy the cottage. We particularly enjoyed the bird feeders in front of the kitchen window-a lovely touch! We found plenty to do in surrounding area, and would recommend this cottage for families or couples wanting to get away from it all. If you haven’t visited Donegal before, the coast is just stunning!

Hi I am just back from Ellen's Cottage, party of 6, 4 adults and 2 kids.

The cottage was more than we expected, the photos do not do it justice! It has a secure garden and play equipment for kids. It is all on 1 level so ideal for elderly family members. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed definitely a home away from home. Elish was so lovely, not invasive just checked in made sure we had settled okay and did we need anything. Everything run smoothly from the start to end of our holiday even bad weather didn't dampen our time at the cottage. Will definitely be returning in future

My family and I stayed for a week from the 16th to the 23/7/22 and would recommend this cottage to anyone as it was lovely and clean and comfortable with Donegal town very near and so were the beaches, also Elish and Tom were the nicest people and very helpful we will definitely stay again many thanks Pauline and family

Lovely remote comfortable cottage ideal for fly fishing nearby and touring the area.

Very well equipped and clean. 10 minutes from Donegal town and it’s restaurants if you want a meal out or a takeaway Helpful owners in Elish and Tom. We throughly enjoyed our stay despite some unseasonal weather.

This property is excellent.

The property owner has gone out of her way to make the cottage comfortable and for her guests to feel welcome. The property is kept to the highest standard and is spotless. The location is very central and the scenery is magnificent and the grounds are kept in good condition. I highly recommend this property for your stay.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and homely and had everything we needed.

The property is very welcoming, a real home from home and was extremely pleasant to stay in. Lovely to go back to after a day out. The weather wasn't great but we still enjoyed our holiday, we love the Donegal area and hope to come back and stay in Ellens cottage again in the future. Thank you to Elish and Tom for checking in with us during the week and for the lovely bottle of wine you kindly left for us, we very much enjoyed it.

We have really enjoyed our holidays in Ellen's Cottage.

The location is stunning, overlooking a lake and with the table and benches outside, we ate there as much as we could. Inside we found everything we needed for a family of six: comfortable beds, an oven, a dishwasher and a washing machine with the a dryer. There was even a small playground behind the cottage and a lot of land to run around. The location is secluded, with nearest house being about 200 meters away but hidden behind trees. The communication with Tom and Elish was first class, wifi was working well as well as the TV. There really is nothing that we missed there but as for us, we are surely missing the cottage already. Plus, Donegal is out of this world, stunning. I have not hesitation to recommend the cottage.

The cottages was lovely and was spotless when we arrived.

It was a nice base for getting around the coastal area of Donegal and it's beautiful scenery. Mountcharles pier a couple of miles away was nice,ideal for children with it's petting farm and Alpaca further along. The coastline is great for photos. We were thankful that Elish and Tom came out and sorted the tv out for us,not that we had much time to watch it but nice all the same. Well worth booking if you want to stay in the area and I know we wouldn't hesitate to in the future.

Just back from great family holiday in Ellen's Cottage, what a perfect base.

House was even nicer then the pictures suggested. Elish and Tom made stay very easy for us and there were alot of nice little touches, they had thought of everything from high chair to a hair dryer, even the things you wouldn't think of yourself. We only enjoyed a small part of what this beautiful county has to offer and I think we will book again next year. We surfed every morning in Rossnowlagh (20 mins away), there's fishing lakes on the doorstep and there are amazing beaches nearby (Inver, St John's Point and Fintra within 20 mins). There's an excellent pier in Mountcharles with lovely coffee/crepe shop with small farm attached with chickens, ducks, bunnies, peacock and alpacas that are a great distraction for small kids if you want to grab a quick coffee. Water by the pier was so clean you could be fish, crabs and prawns clearly. Next time we'll bring life jackets to try pier jumping if tide is in. Thanks Elish and Tom, regards, Aoife and Jimmy

Ellen's Cottage was better than we could have expected!

It was so comfortable and had all the amenities that we needed, including a cosy cot with bedding and a high chair for our baby. It is a perfect base for exploring the beautiful Donegal and a lovely place to return in the evening for a nice hot shower and an extremely comfortable nights sleep! We are so sad to leave and would return to this cottage in a heartbeat. Although we couldn't meet Eilish and Tom face to face because of Covid 19, they kept in touch over the phone and were wonderful hosts. I would highly recommend this Cottage to anyone wanting to explore Donegal and all it has to offer.

The house is warm, cosy and comfortable.

The owners did everything to ensure that we had a pleasant stay. The area is fantastic and well worth a visit. We would certainly return to this cottage if and when we are in the area.

Rental was during the winter.

Well situated to Donegal and surrounding area, as well as it's situation when traveling west from MountCharles along the coast. The accommodation was perfect for two adult couples. The owners were helpful in guiding us in to the property and then reviewing the amenities of the cottage.

Lovely neat cottage with all the comforts of home.

Safe and quiet. Good heating system and hot shower. Wonderful views of the lake. Very clean, plenty of supplies including an unexpected gift of wine and cakes. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, waited for us and showed us around. Great location near the Wild Atlantic Way and the sights to the north and west. Only disappointment was having to leave at the end of our stay. We loved it so much.

We had a lovely family holiday in Ellen's cottage.

The cottage was very well equipped with comfortable beds and heavy curtains and black out blinds to ensure a restful night's sleep. It is located on a quiet road which was good for a morning walk or run and close to Donegal town for all essentials. We loved Murvagh beach located about 35 minutes away. The cottage has excellent WiFi and a range of TV channels.

We booked Ellen's cottage for a week in August and had a wonderful time in this beautiful part of Ireland.

The cottage was perfect for our needs offering both privacy and proximity to Donegal town and Killybegs. Tom and Elish were wonderful hosts and the cottage was spotless when we arrived and was well equipped with everything we could need for our stay.
