The Bay

This is my second time staying in the Bay.

The cottage is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The situation is wonderful with beautiful views of the sea and hills from the garden. There are excellent beaches within easy reach and a really nice pub with a pleasant garden in the village. John, the owner, is friendly and helpful and if you have any problems he will sort them out immediately.

Our second stay at the Bay, lovely to meet John (and Rudy the donkey) again.

Weather wasn’t so kind to us but still able to enjoy the most amazing view in a very comfortable spacious property with a lovely garden and everything you could need provided. Lots to see and do around the Ring of Kerry and a good recommendation for a meal at the newly refurbished Derrynane Hotel. Thanks John, hope to see you again.

The most amazing setting with views of the Caherdaniel Bay.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. House was well furnished and the bed was very comfortable. Large kitchen and lounge and a TV with digi box. Would definitely come here again!

Didn't want to leave.

The house was as described with the most incredible views. Peaceful, warm and cosy. Fabulous local walks and a good supermarket close by. Visited in January when it was quiet and loved this place. The host was very helpful, polite and friendly. Would recommend to anyone to stay here and enjoy this beautiful area.

It was a joy to be here in this little haven.

Outstanding scenery abounds in this tranquil place. A cosy pub beckons you for good food and pint down the road. The beach close by was beautiful and unspoilt and kissed by the wild Atlantic way. Our little dog Bella was so happy and contented. It is certainly worth travelling beyond but not too far. We travelled to the Kerry cliffs for spectacular views. John our host was a gentleman and very helpful and friendly. The cottage itself had all the necessary conveniences although a little old fashioned but still cosy. Certainly would visit again.

Good location, beaches and restaurants nearby, between Sneem and Waterville.

Furniture dated, sofa bed didn't work, would have liked some different tv stations, electric shower didn't work without turning on the heating.

Perfect location and house has everything you need . The owner John is lovely to deal with and always om hand if you need anything. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay again and can't wait to return next year.

Furniture a bit worn but that added to the character.

Could do with a throwover on the leather settee like the other 2 just to tidy it up a bit. Other than that everything else spot on. Very peaceful and John is brilliant. Welcomed us on arrival and was there to see us off when going home.

We just returned from our holiday in Caherdaniel.

We stayed at the Bay which is an ideal location for touring the area. This beautiful cottage is overlooking looking the bay , it is clean spacious has all the facilities one could ask for. The owner John is so helpful & kind a real gentlemen . This was our 4th time holidaying here and we hope to be back again next year John & Mary

An excellent location for touring the beautiful and scenic areas that county Kerry has to offer, John is a gentleman who kindly left a starter pack of milk, cookies and flowers on our arrival.

We found the residence well equipped and comfortable. It was also a bonus to have our Bichon Frise travel with us and be accepted at the residence. Overall a surperb stay and we would highly recommend. P.S. we were super lucky with the weather

The cottage is beautifully located, so clean and had everything we needed.

We had an amazing stay.

The property had everything we needed and was well equipped and comfortable. It was a lovely touch to have beautiful fresh flowers, milk and cake waiting for us on arrival. John our host was great and very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect with breathtaking views of Derrynane beach and The Skelligs. Enclosed garden was ideal for our dog. And we loved Rudy the donkey who would come and say hello over the hedge every now and again. Nice pub with good food 5 minute walk away ( The Blind Piper) and lots of excellent eateries short drives away.

Exceptional holiday property.

The host, John, met us when we arrived and was so very helpful and kind. Hes an absolute gentleman and has provided a beautiful home from home. It is an excellently equipped comfortable warm house with the best shower. We had a wonderful time in late November. The garden is enclosed which was perfect for our little dog. The property has beautiful views of Derrynane Bay. The area is so tranquil and peaceful with an excellent local beach and walking trails. Best holiday home we've stayed at in Ireland!! Thanks John.

We enjoyed our stay in a bungalow which provided all that the four of us needed for an enjoyable week.

The view and sunsets were spectacular. The property was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Some of the furnishings were a little tired but perfectly serviceable.

We had a fabulous week in The Bay.

House had everything we needed. Views were amazing and close to everything. Daily visits from Rudy the donkey were always welcome. The owner John is a lovely man and on hand if you need anything. We will definitely return to this gorgeous cottage.

This is a very comfortable, spacious and well equipped cottage.

It is beautifully situated overlooking the sea and we enjoyed relaxing in the garden surrounded by wonderful scenery. It is an easy stroll to the village pub which serves good food. There are many interesting places to visit in the area and we had an amazing boat trip to the Skelligs. John, the owner, made us very welcome and could not be more friendly and helpful.

My concerns have been raised with Sykes.

I am sure the owner will want to rectify all the issues I reported. He was a lovely gentleman. If I have any advice to offer holiday makers using Sykes is to make sure you raise any concerns immediately with the owners while you are on holiday. Do not wait until you get home because it is too late. We will never use Sykes again.

Lovely comfortable house with great view of the bay and walking distance from the village where there is a lively pub with very good selection of food and drink.

Kind and helpful owner and good garden for the dog.Looking forward to spending another week at The Bay in September.

The Bay is in a beautiful location.

We really enjoyed our stay it is a very relaxing area with lots to do nearby. The beautiful Derrynane beach a short distance away. The cottage has everything you need & our host John made us feel very much at home, we will be returning.

Our second stay in this lovely property, which has stunning views and is in an ideal position for exploring this part of Ireland.

Stunning views, great location, comfortable and cosy. John was a great host and Rudy the donkey became quickly our son´s best friend in Kerry. Would love to come again.

A perfect base to explore a beautiful part of the world.

Very nice house in a beautiful location.

Proprietor John lives close by and is very accommodating, always ready to help. The spot is closed to beautiful beaches and nice walks. The Blind Piper pub in the village has good food. Just be aware that most of the attractions and shops are closed until late spring. Something to keep in mind.

We absolutely loved our stay here.

The owner was very attentive to anything we needed during our stay and even came by during a storm to make sure we had emergency lighting and were okay. Very private cottage overlooking the ocean and valley in front of it. We even got visits from Rudi the donkey. We definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for peace and quiet - and stunning views. Thank you!

Fantastic views. Close proximity to the fantastic Derrynane beach and the Blind Piper pub. Rudy the donkey comes to the fence and enjoys Carrots. Thoroughly recommend.

A very comfortable cottage with amazing views.

Very easy (by car) to get to beautiful beaches 5 mins away and to tour the whole Ring of Kerry. Walking distance to local bar/restaurant/cafes along main road without path in places plus an uphill trek on way back up to cottage but still well worth doing. Cottage has everything you could need including daily visits from Rudy the donkey for carrots!

Lovely location, peaceful and good local pubs and restaurants

We had a fabulous stay at The Bay.

Everything was as listed, John was very welcoming and check in/out was very straight forward. The enclosed garden, outdoor tap for washing dirty paws and porch inside the back door (for containing damp paws) made it a perfect holiday home for people with a dog.

We have had a wonderful 2 weeks at The Bay and are hoping to return next year.

The property is absolutely perfect in every way and John is the perfect host.

A walk away from the pub, the Kerry Way, Lamb's Head and Derrynane. What more could you want for you or your dog? John is also an attentive and gracious host. I would definitely come again.

Great house great location and what a view

We had a super week at The Bay in Caherdaniel.

The property is excellent with everything as stated, very clean and welcoming. The garden is very well fenced and secure, important as we had a dog with us. This property has everything you need for a comfortable stay, well heated with the bonus of an open fire too. The area, whilst quiet at this time of year (October) nevertheless was lovely to explore, several very good beaches close by, interesting places to visit and a great pub in Caherdaniel called The Blind Piper, which does excellent food (also as takeaway if preferred) and welcomes our canine friends. It is within the Kerry Dark Sky Reserve, so on a clear night is incredible for star gazing. The owner John is welcoming, helpful but not intrusive, and his donkey Rudi is adorable (and likes carrots!). A very enjoyable stay and would have no hesitation in recommending.

John was very friendly and helpful, without being intrusive.

The garden was well fenced off, which was very important for our dog, who had great fun with Rudy the donkey. Lovely house with amazing views, and everything provided. Overall we had a very pleasant stay.

The Bay is a great holiday location.

It was as described on the Website. We arrived to find it as you'd hope - clean, well presented house with all you'd need for a holiday. It's close to numerous great beaches, and the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. The home owner lives close by and was very helpful.

We have just returned from a great week in Caherdaniel.

Our stay in The Bay was everything we expected and more. It was warm, comfortable and had all the necessities required for our stay. We were welcomed by John who showed us around and who lives nearby if we needed anything. We were lucky to have super weather, and all three of us and our dog had a really lovely holiday. We would have no hesitation in recommending this house and this beautiful area to anyone. Philip, Leonie and Mary and Dorcha!

The owner John was amazing, we arrived later than thought (John had made contact to check where we were) and he meet us at door and showed us around.

The cottage was well set up, a real home from home. Anything we needed John was very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. (We arrived as 1 stormed finished and another began). The view looking over the bay, only 5 minute drive away, was never the same. Excellent base for exploring Co.Kerry. The property was situated facing a working farm. Views of donkey and sheep. (TV channels very limited ie only BBC), very little phone and Internet signal and no WIFI. Which was brilliant to be able to switch off from everything. The open fire and pull out sofa bed made a great date night. (The property is situated up a farm track and can be easily missed from main road).

We loved the house in The Bay.

It had great facilities, was well heated, very comfortable and clean.Our dog enjoyed the space outside, the donkey and dogs Jessie and Misty. There is an ensuite to the main bedroom and the other bedroom is a good-sized room for two adult guests also. It was nice to have a bath and shower in the bathroom. We liked John the owner, who was very helpful when needed and yet did not intrude. All in all it was a very pleasant stay in a lovely area overlooking Caherdaniel beach which was the jewel in the crown with this property.We spent everyday on it and the dog loved the beach and waves.It proximity to Waterville, valencia, Caherciveen,Sneem and Kenmare make it a very desirable location at any time of the year.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Bay.

John, the owner, was so lovely and incredibly helpful. This is the most well equipped house we’ve ever stayed in, they have thought of everything and it’s even better than the pictures on the website! The views are stunning and it is such a lovely peaceful area. Of course the stay was made all the more amazing by the beautiful Rudy, the friendliest donkey we’ve ever met. Our son would have taken him home given the chance! Thank you again to John for a lovely stay, we will definitely be back in the future and would recommend to anyone and everyone.

We really enjoyed our stay.

The house is in a perfect location with beautiful views of Derrynane beach. The beach, local pubs, shops and playground are only a very short drive away. The house was clean, comfortable and fully equipped with everything you might need. The open plan kitchen living room area was great for socialising. We also loved the enclosed garden area it was ideal for our dog and little toddler. Our toddler really enjoyed looking at the sheep and donkey in the field beside too. We shall definitely be back and recommending it to our friends!!

The location was stunning.

It was right in the middle of a working farm - and the views are gorgeous. The cottage was clean, warm and cosy - with everything you would require. Lovely people, fabulous walks and an endless variety of terrain to explore. Local pub and restaurant within easy walking distance ... a perfect rental if you want quiet simplicity and natural beauty. Definitely will go back.

no bin for dog poo. Expected to take bin bags to tip...out of order! No cleaners to clean at end of stay. Was it cleaned after last people b4 us???

Very nice house for 4 persons.

Stunning view. Comfortable. Owner lives nearby and is very friendly. Shop nearby during summer holidays (at the campsite). Vegetables can be bought at the farm nearby. Very good atmospere and good food in the pub of the village. One of the most beautiful places on earth! Lots of possibilities for hiking and cycling ans swimming in the ocean. Wild flowers and fresh air! Would very much like to come back.

Great surprise: the cottage turned out to be bigger than we thought.

We felt at home immediately. Very well situated for exploring the South-West of the Ring of Kerry. Our dog Raga(muffin) really appreciated the fenced garden. A lot of room to sniff around for all of us!

It was as we hoped The owners were very accommodating and helpful We will certainly go there again if and when we are in the area

The Cottage was warm and comfortable, the view did your heart good, the closest shop was limited for fresh groceries but good off licence, pub close by, good food and allowed the dog in, we had a lovely time and would stay again if down that way.

Excellent location with a beautiful view.

The cottage is comfortable and spacious. The heating is good and was necessary for the first couple of days. Owners nearby and friendly and we're available if needed. The only slight criticism is the lack of saucepans, bowls and chopping boards for food preparation and cooking knives. Some new towels would be nice.

The house owners could not have been any more helpful or friendly.

The view from the house is magnificent and though we were busy each day, we could very easily have stayed at home and enjoyed the house and garden. We had a great time.

Can't fault the place, the location is first class, the cottage is just what we wanted, our hosts were very helpful, the "Blind piper" is a wonderful pub that serves good food and excellent beer, 10 out of 10.

The owners met us and were extremely helpful and friendly, magnicent views of Derrynane complimented by a lovely house with everything you'd need, will miss the donkey over the fence.
