The Old School House

A very well equipped house with all the bits and bobs needed for general living e.

g salt, pepper, olive oil etc. Things that are strangely not available in many places i've stayed. We visited in March and was afraid that the house might be cold as its an old high celing building but the place, especially the beds were very comfortable and warm. The views were amazing and both sunrises and moon lite skies were jaw dropping. Would stay again.

We had a lovely stay.

Very peaceful and a beautiful views. Unfortunately the previous guests had put a hole in one of the bedroom walls, the owner phoned on our day of arrival to arrange for it to be fixed. The local that came to mend it made sure that him doing so didn't inconvenience us. Being ideally suited to dog owners, there was dog hair and a dog smell to the sofas.

We had a fantastic time at the old school house it is very remote so you would definitely need transport but so worth it.

The views from the back decking while sitting having a glass of wine is absolutely stunning our grandchildren where with us and they absolutely loved it they where outside playing games in the garden they weren't bothered about computer games just having good fun. The only thing you would need to bring with you is some food as the shops are a bit of a drive apart from that I could not fault the old school house we would definitely recommend it and we will certainly be back.

Lovely area, great for the dogs, beautiful lake nearby to bring them swimming. They didn't want to come home !

The school house is spacious, well laid out with great views of the surrounding countryside and a lake.

The Wi-Fi was great and the Tv's (3 of them) had satellite TV. The kids loved the big garden and the sheep in the field next door. We loved how close everything was; Cavan town, Carrick on Shannon and Sligo or Longford. The sitting room has a lovely raised fireplace, perfect for winding down in front of in the evenings. The school house is a great peaceful getaway. We hope to be back.

The old school house is well planned out and a great central spot for exploring the Midlands of Ireland. Biggest issue is the spiders in the house, while no fear of spiders it definitely made us unable to relax completely. Also oven would need updated as takes ages to cook anything.

Hi, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old School.

The only problem we had was with the huge quantity of spiders in the house, we were going to use a spare blanked that was stored on top of a wardrobe in one of the twin rooms until we took it down and gasped at the amount of spiders and moths when we opened it out, we then quickly returned it to the top of the wardrobe. The School could do with a monthly deep clean down and especially all the spiders removed. We nicknamed the School Hotel Transylvania. We did enjoy our stay and would recommend it to others. We really enjoyed our evenings out on the deck overlooking the lake.

This cottage is a lovely place to stay superb views and close to places we wanted to visit.

Very nice house, renovated with care and taste, in a beautiful countryside, in the heart of Ireland, with a very nice view on the countryside and the lakes.

This old schoolhouse with its history deserves to be discovered. (Too bad there is no washing machine!). We'll be back !

Charm and Character in Rural County Leitrim, Ireland: Gortermone Schoolhouse was built in 1891.

The owner has done a wonderful job maintaining this period building and providing all the modern conveniences inside, including wifi and satellite TV. The old schoolhouse has wonderful views of the lovely Leitrim countryside. Highly recommended, Tony K. Houston, Texas

Good location only missing local pub but nice little towns with very friendly people nearby Perfect for children and dogs. Plenty to do.
