Blarney Castle Near Cork, County Cork

With a stone almost more famous than the building that surrounds it, Blarney Castle has long been a must for visitors to our Cork cottages.

Built nearly 600 years ago, Blarney Castle is a world landmark and one of Irelands greatest treasures. Many people initially head there to kiss the Blarney Stone, hoping to receive its legendary gift of eloquence, a tradition reaching back over 200 years.

There is so much more to Blarney than the stone. The castle makes an impressive backdrop, and the gardens invite visitors to relax and stay a while, lawns, shrubs and flower beds sloping towards the lake while cattle graze under ancient lime and oak trees.

Rock Close is a shaded nook on a natural terrace above the river, and has a mystical, magical feel to it, with a witches stone, fairy glade, druids circle wishing steps and more. Explore the dungeon, visit Badgers Cave or enjoy one of the walking trails round the estates grounds before returning to your Cork cottage to dream of myths and legends.

I found Hogans a first class company. From my first call the staff were very helpful & knowledgeable about the area we were going to. If the sales team were busy they always phoned back. Having a wide choice of cottages & ferry package made booking the holiday very easy. I will definitely use Hogans again
