    “We had a wonderful week.”

Lovely welcome from Abina and Tim. The cottage was comfortable, well equipped and delightful. Set in the countryside within easy distance of so many nearby sights. Lovely welcome from Abina and Tim. The cottage was comfortable, well equipped and delightful. Set in the countryside within easy distance of so many nearby sights. We went to Blarney Castle, Gougane Barra, a stunningly beautiful national park, Kilmichael ambush site, Union Hall, Glandore and Rineen on the coast, kayaking around some amazing scenery, Brandon and Dunmanway, where there was great history to discover. The Methodist Church in Dunmanway is now occupied by the historical society and has a superb collection of local historical artifacts and information. Vivianne and Tim were very helpful. We spent a few fascinating hours there discovering the real history of the area. St Mary's Church in Dunmanway has recently gained 8 new church bells, we were taken up to the belfry and allowed to ring tunes. Locals have knitted a copy of the Sam MacGuire cup for the All Ireland GAA competition and it sits on the window ledge in pride of place. The churchyard is where Sam MacGuire is buried. The last Friday of the month in the Greyhound bar in Dunmanway, locals come together to sing their Irish songs. A true delight. All in all a superb holiday and would completely recommend.
