Why book a holiday cottage in County Wexford?
Welcome to Ireland's sunniest county. We can't guarantee the weather, but we can guarantee a fantastic time! This beautiful region is famous for amazing beaches, strawberries, castles, literary greats and more.
Let's start at the coast, where a string of Blue Flag beaches, fishing villages and seaside resorts will put a smile on everyone's face. Follow the South East Coastal Drive and look out for Curracloe and Ballinesker: the beaches may be recognisable as they were used as the filming locations for the D-Day Landings' scene in Saving Private Ryan. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy water sports and you may even spot whales or dolphins off the coast. Explore the picturesque Hook Peninsula, offering a mix of wild rocky coast and spectacular sands. It is also home to Hook Head Lighthouse - one of the oldest working one lighthouses in the world.
Have a flutter at Wexford Racecourse or join a guided walking tour of this cosmopolitan heritage town. And don't miss a chance to visit the Irish National Heritage Park, where you can learn about an incredible 9,000 years of history. Other attractions include Enniscorthy Cathedral, Duncannon Fort and the Dunbrody Heritage Ship. There are lovely parks and gardens to discover too, such as the JFK Arboretum or Johnstown Castle and Gardens.
There are many places around the county to enjoy outdoor pursuits and attractions. Anglers can fish in some of the many rivers and lakes bulging with salmon and trout, while golfers can take their pick from lots of top-class courses. Walkers and cyclists, meanwhile, should head for Mount Leinster, the highest peak of the Blackstairs with panoramic views from the top. And after a day's sightseeing or adventure, your County Wexford holiday home awaits!
