Why book a holiday home in County Clare?

There are many reasons to book a cottage in County Clare, not least for the show-stopping scenery. Top billing goes to the dizzying Cliffs of Moher, looming above the Atlantic Ocean and stretching along the coast for five miles. Admire the crashing surf and the breathtaking views of Galway Bay, the Aran Islands and the Twelve Bens of Connemara.

Burren National Park is a topsy-turvy wonderland with underground rivers, limestone caves and landscapes carpeted with flamboyant floral delights. Look out for the ancient Caherconnell Stone Fort and, if you're into cycling, follow the Dolmen Cycleway, a remote route crossing this incredibly beautiful region.

Places to visit in County Clare

Don your walking boots and head out along the Mid Clare Way, a scenic path encircling the picturesque town of Ennis. Make time to visit the town too, awash with character buildings, winding streets and the Glór Irish Music Centre - a fantastic place to discover traditional music and dance. Don't miss Bunratty Castle, a 15th Century masterpiece, or the Bunratty Folk Park. There's also lots of excellent shops in the local village, not to mention the award-winning 'Durty Nelly's' pub and restaurant.

Enjoy close encounters with bottlenose dolphins in the Shannon Estuary or join a wildlife tour from Kilrush Creek marina. The seaside resorts of Fanore and Spanish Point are great for family beach holidays or surfing breaks, or if golf is more your cup of tea, Lahinch boasts one of the best courses in the world. Or have a splashing day out at Lough Derg, a paradise for water sports with sailing, cruises, windsurfing and more.

If you're hoping to see the magnificent Cliffs of Moher, you can stay in close proximity by choosing to stay in the nearby village of Liscannor.
