Gatehouse

Unfortunately we had just left an AirBnB in Kerry which was exceptional.

The Gatehouse was not clean to our standards. There were dirty pans in the cupboards with the previous occupants fried food stuck to them and the oven had not been cleaned at all. The showers were all covered in long hairs. The seating meant that we could not all congregate in one room as there were not enough comfortable seats for 8 people. Most of the dining chairs were plastic and uncomfortable. The cutlery was a very cheap variety and we had difficulty finding a knife that would cut or a spoon or fork which didn't bend when used. A lot of the crockery was chipped and unhygienic. One of our party needed the use of a walking frame and there was no easy access at either the front or back entrance. The house was sparsley decorated and not very homely. There was a lack of coathangers, mirrors and storage facilities in the ensuites.

Excellent property and great to have a larger holiday cottage with en suites in all the rooms.

No mattress protector on double bed.

When I was leaving and removed all bedding ready for the cleaner I found multiple yellow/orange stains on the mattress and the quilt cover. I was really disgusted and upset. No mirror at all in the bedroom. Big red ISO container as veiw from bedroom. No garden furniture apart from 2 wooden picnic benches which have seen better days. A single bed had clearly not been washed and refreshed as we found hairs all over the pillow and sheet. Not the correct number of shower mats for bathrooms. One tea towel for a whole week and only 2 teaspoons and no sharp cutting knife. No iron but an ironing board. All skirting boards were black as was all floor. White socks definitely a no! The general cleanliness was NOT of an acceptable standard. Only one of the two tvs was working with very basic tv channels , all in all the home is rough around the edges , attention to detail is needed but also has potential.

We had another fantastic stay at this property, having been last year.

Such a roomy house with great facilities in a wonderful location, far enough for peace but close enough to the lovely town. Would highly recommend and plan another visit at some point.

Alan was so accommodating. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable! We loved having en suite in every bedroom. We’d love to be back again. Thank you.

House was fantastic for 2 families. Every room with ensuite was just brilliant. Very comfortable. Everything we needed for our stay. Our host Alan was very nice and welcoming, and made sure we were settled in.

The house was very comfortable and spotless, it ticked all the boxes for us since our party included very elderly relatives and also young children. Will definitely be back thank you.

A great property for a family holiday.

There were ten in our party - two families of four and two elderly relatives. The property had plenty of space for us all, ensuite rooms were ideal for the size of our party Ideally located to explore the North coast of Donegal and the North Antrim coast. We had a lovely few days at Gatehouse, love the location so close to the beach front water sports, shops and cafes etc.

The house itself is immaculate, clean, modern. Only improvement and it’s constructive, is that more could be made of the area outside house, ie, bbq, hot tub etc. we had a super time, thank you.

PERFECTION!

The house is amazingly spectacular! It has everything one could desire in a holiday! Clean, bright and quiet area with wonderful sea views. The beds were lovely and comfortable! The yard was great for the dogs and family to enjoy the time away! Dogs were able to freely roam about -supervised and had a stupendous time! Alan the Host was lovely and gave us all the directions and information necessary to enjoy the property. Short walk to seaside and it was such an amazing area. Rich in history! Lots to do for everyone!

Excellent accommodation with everything holiday visitors might need provided.

The house was spotless and every bedroom had freshly laundered bedding and towels. There was plenty of safe space around the house to let our dog out for exercise and for us to sit on picnic benches and enjoy the good weather. There is a small supermarket and petrol station close by and the centre of Moville is a short walk away. All in all a great find!

We had a good comfortable stay in this house.

It was very clean, organised house and we had close access to the sea/beach/,as well as our kids were available to play on a football pitch not so far from us. The owner left some treats for our stay, it was very kind and very generous of him to do. Only one thing is If the living room had a carpet it would be more warm and suitable.

Great location, quiet and only a little walk from Moville Main Street.
