Lovely cottage with stunning views.

Comfortable bed in the yellow room. Lovely log burner which you will need to use as the room is cold, the front door leads into this. The draught excluder only fit half way!! The radiators warmed up the bedrooms. Only 1 log and a few sticks left for the burner, not even enough to start a fire!! There are a lot of cobwebs and areas that hadn’t been cleaned, which were very visible. Cobwebs were hanging from the ceilings and over the walls, also dirt on the back of the bathroom door panels and in corners that hadn’t been cleaned for a while. A long road possibly a mile from the main road to the cottage, you will need a sturdy vehicle to get up there as the last part is very loose stones with pot holes.

Delightful situation, wonderful views, but it is only feasible if you are prepared to drive everywhere, to shop and to self-cater.

Hello We were quite disappointed with the cottage.

No mention is made in the advertising, of tha appalling road leading up to the cottage which must have caused damage to my cars tyres and suspension. We would not have booked if this had been described. Whilst the kitchen area and bedding and towels were beautifully clean and comfortable, there were areas that were not. The water cooler was grubby to say the least and the water tasted odd - photos can be provided. There is advice (at the very end of the cottage instructions) to not drink the tap water . The bath panel was dirty (photos available). The pleather settees were shedding their top coating significantly. The outside area is very untidy - to the front was a digger which was later moved to the back of the property. There was litter and unfilled dug areas to the back of the cottage - photos available, The so called dog friendly garden is non existent with broken gates The view from the front of the cottage is amazing. Yvonne came when called to help set up the TV and was very friendly. Not a lot is required to make this into a lovely holiday cottage, but I feel Sykes should review cottages on their listings to ensure that they are fit for purpose in all respects.

Thanks for a great stay I do feel that the charge was pretty high, given the view was disrupted by the drilling machines and also there was no logs for a fire (the cottage was very cold on the day we got there).

We shouldn't have been expected to buy the logs. Maybe something could be taken off the price we paid to compensate us as we did pay quite a bit and didn't get all the facilities. A note for the cleaner , there was dog hair accumulated near the sofa.

This was a beautiful secluded place to stay with stunning views all around.

The cottage was well presented kitchen, bathroom, beds were all very clean. Had everything you'd need and all worked well. The stove was great as it was cool inside at night. We didn't find the roadway up to the cottage too bad, just the last stretch approaching the house was loose gravel track. On the negative side I didn't find the mattresses in the cottage with green door that comfortable. I do suffer with back problems sometimes. The big bed in the end room was not level and was very hard and springy. Had sore back next morning. Moved to the other room and the mattress was a bit better but not great. This might not bother some. If you are bringing pets be careful on the lanes. I had 2 dogs. One of mine got really spooked by a big tractor and got out of his collar as I was holding him at side of road. He nearly went under it but I managed to grab him by the neck. Got a terrible fright. Would have been so much easier if farmer had just stopped for a few seconds and let me walk past but he just kept coming I had to yell for him to stop. The yard is fenced well but there is no gate to the lane, I kept my lurcher on lead all the time as she would easily jump the fence and there are livestock nearby. So many lovely places to visit nearby here, kilbroney park and Mourne mountains were amazing. Lovely restaurants and bars in rostervor. The rostervor inn had lovely food. Everyone was so friendly as well. Hope to get back here again sometime.

This is a very special location halfup up the mountain.

Totally relaxing! Woke up to cows in the front yard/pasture and sheep in the back yard/pasture every morning. Cottages have everything you need for a pleasant stay.

Needs TLC especially in the shower rooms.

Overall we had a relaxing time there but didn’t realise it would be so remote.

This place was wonderful.

The bed was to die for! The cottage was charming and cozy. It was well equipped. The scenery was gorgeous and couldn’t have been better. I would definitely stay here again and would look no further. Thank you for a lovely stay. Wish our stay had been longer.

We had a lovely stay for a week at the cottage.

It was very comfortable and clean. Lovely and warm the whole time. It's a good location for traveling around the area. We have two little dogs that were very happy in the cottage, and it was great to have them with us. The cottage had everything we needed for self-catering for a week. The location is beautiful with lovely views down to the sea and twinkling lights at night.

The cottage was very clean and very well equipped Location was beautiful and there is plenty of places close by to visit Pet friendly was an added bonus We really enjoyed our stay

This is an exceptional stay, all the charm of a cottage with luxury modern comfort.

An authentic drive up to the location, lots of parking space, the most incredible views, the quietness and the direct access to the mountains- phenomenal. The cottage is also so central to many many beautiful locations within a short driving distance and lots of literature is provided. Overall 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

the Cottage was very nice, unfortunately the road up to it from the Main road was unsurfaced and rocky, very unsuitable for Driving on!

the Owner was very helpful and told me that he was aware of that and would be getting it sorted out soon! Apart from that it was a most enjoyable Holiday! i would certainly return there but only if the road was Cemented or Tarmacked! So with this in Mind i gave it 4 stars.

The Irish weather wasn't perfect, but the Irish cottage was.

It was bliss sitting in front of the cosy wood stove, eating fish and chips from Sharkey's of Warrenpoint, and listening to the rain pelting down outside. Very atmospheric. The road up to the cottage was long and sometimes rocky, but it was worth it for the peace and isolation and the stunning scenery - mountains on three sides and a view out towards Carlingford Lough. At night the twinkling lights were gorgeous. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean (much appreciated in these Covid times) comfortable and the owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to make sure it is supplied with everything you could need and want. A lot of attention has been paid to the layout of the cottage and I liked the way the living area is well separated from the sleeping area. It's deceptively spacious for such an old building, with nice roomy bathrooms. There are plenty of radiators as well, which along with the stove, I imagine would make the cottage warm in winter. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others and definitely stay there again myself. Thanks to Yvonne and Eammon for providing such a lovely retreat and in such a lovely part of Northern Ireland. Unfortunately the booking experience with Sykes was a bit of a shambles and not very encouraging with regard to using them again.

The cottage was the most amazing place for peace and quiet.

Views were most spectacular. Eamon is a proper gentleman.

Beds fantastic and whole scene facilitated a very relaxing break away. Eamonn was a gentleman when we locked ourselves out. Will visit again. Fantastic venue.

A cottage with exceptional views that delighted us all the time.

Comfortable and welcoming. The lane and the track up were long but the solitude was welcome as a refreshing time from our normal lives. Walking straight from the cottage to the hills was a joy. If published, preferably without name please.

The place was lovely Éamonn couldn't meet us sí he left instructions where to find the key, the cottage was fantastic really cosy, great fire, beautifully decorated, we had a fabulous time, very relaxing, would definitely go back again.

Comfortable and well appointed cottage.

The owner, Eamonn, was very helpful and hospitable throughout our stay. The cottage is nearer to Killowen than Rostrevor and is situated 1.7miles along a single track road (Kilfeaghan Road) from the main A2 road, care is needed with oncoming traffic when driving along Kilfeaghan Road as there are limited passing places. The last section of the road from the picnic area is like a farm track and one has to drive carefully in order not to ground your vehicle. The cottage is sited in a lovely peaceful and quiet setting, with splendid views of Carlingford Lough in the distance. Although Wifi is provided at the cottage, we were unable to get any mobile phone signal (Vodafone) until we were near The Killowen Distillery which is situated approximately a mile from the cottage back down the single track road towards the A2.

Lovely property.

Very clean and nicely decorated. Very quiet, and lovely scenery. Owner friendly and welcoming. The road up to the cottage is however is in pretty poor condition at the end - could be a real problem is you have a car with low clearance.

This comfortable cottage located in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains is very well appointed and equipped inside.

The owners provided a very warm welcome and went out of their way to be helpful during our stay.
