Glebe Farm Cottage

Accomodation was great.

Lovely setting with real farmyard animals all around -chickens, cattle etc. Lots to do in area, Mount Stewart, GOT, Titantic, Lisburn Linen Museum etc. Best of all a sincere friendly welcome from the hosts. We would reccommend it.

What a lovely place.

Our hosts were so welcoming. The cottage was spotless and comfortable. We really enjoyed watching the chickens every evening, relaxing after a day exploring.

A pleasant little cottage on a working farm outside Rathfriland in Northern Ireland.

The actual cottage was well-appointed, having a large kitchen/dinning area. The lounge was spacious and very comfortable. The master bedroom was fairly large. The other bedroom had two single beds in it and a shower between both bedrooms. This property used to be the owner's grandparents' place originally until they moved. Outside, across a little track was a large paddock with two ponies and Alpacas. The two ponies were friendly and came to you, and the two alpacas kept to themselves. It was not too far from the village centre. There are little shops in the village, and a well-stocked main supermarket with a restaurant above it was a reasonable cost for any meal along with a bar. There is an ice cream parlour in the main centre which has some delicious ice cream along with many other shops. Belfast was a 45-minute car journey away; Dublin was 1 hour and 15 min approx away from the cottage. The nearest ferry port was Belfast if travelling by car... Please note that when travelling through Dublin, there are toll tunnels which you can pay by card Please be aware that sat nav tends to take you down narrow country roads. Lastly, we found the owners, David and his wife, to be very knowledgeable about its local history and helped us a great deal in deciding what we were going to do during our stay. On our last night, David suggested that we go to a March; apprehensive as we were, it was marching bands, which was very pleasant to watch. Thank you, David and family, for your hospitality.

The cottage had everything we needed as a base for visiting people and places in the area.

Beautiful house in fabulous location we visited 5 forest parks with dog all less than 30mins drive , welcome basket with eggs and treats.

Lovely looking out window to see alpacas, horses, cows and rabbits and lots of chickens! Friendly hosts and plenty of eateries from takeaways, cafes, restaurants in area. Only downside no enclosed space for dog .

We have stayed at Glebe Farm Cottage for the last three years and enjoyed the situation, the kind & generous welcome from David & Sharon , the wonderful Milestone supermarket and the associated restaurant ( Loft 56) in Rathfriland town.

Plus it’s a great base for seeing the Mournes!

During our stay we were sourrounded by hills, trees, flowers and all kinds of animals.

Cows, alpacas, horses, chickens, wild rabbits, a fox and birds were our neighbors. It is a great experience for nature lovers! The cottage is very well equipped, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The hosts live close to the cottage and are always ready to help. We were completely relaxed and satisfied. Thank you!

David was an excellent host and certainly went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable.

We have stayed at Glebe farm cottage on numerous occasions, it is clean, comfortable, super location and has everything that you would need to enjoy your stay.

We can honestly say that it is like home from home. The hosts David & Sharon are most welcoming and there is always a lovely basket full of goodies to start you off. We would highly recommend.

Immaculately clean. Hotel comfort for self catering prices. Every little extra has been thought of. And pet friendly, bonus. Will definitely return ,when hopefully the sun will appear to see more of the stunning surrounding area.

Great location on a private lane about 100m from the Main Road and about 3/4 of a mile outside Rafriland.

We were met by the hosts David and Sharon who showed us around the property and assured us we could contact them if we needed anything. Lovely bungalow, well equipped with two spacious bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Fully equipped kitchen and a lovely starter pack of local produce left by the hosts. Great WiFI and TV included. Couldn't recommend this property any higher and will definitely return.

It was great to stay on an organic farm and it is a great base for exploration of the Bronte Homeland and Mourne areas.

I have already recommended it. There is so much to explore. The only reason my overall review was four stars, not five, is that more could be done to be more eco.; however, I find this is always the case, including in my everyday life, and Glebe Farm Cottage's hosts are well ahead of most hosts on this front. Thank you. I hope that our paths will cross again so that we can continue the conversations begun.

A perfect stay in a beautiful setting with lovely kind and generous hosts.

The cottage was clean and very comfortable. It was so relaxing watching the cows and alpacas everyday in the field. The conservatory was so relaxing with a cup of tea chatting away to my husband. A yummy little hamper with goodies. The farm eggs very delicious. Thank you to David & Sharon for having us!!

Glebe Farm Cottage was perfect in everyway - clean, fully equipped and very comfortable.

The fresh flowers and welcome basket including milk, butter, eggs and amazing home made scones was very much appreciated, especially as we had arrived very late at night. The beds were so comfortable and we enjoyed the time spent in the conservatory gazing out to the beautiful surrounding greenery as well as resident alpacas. Our hosts were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We hope to return!

The house was perfect for us to explore the area, our plan was to explore the mourne mountains. We also visited Newcastle, Newry and Belfast.the week was too short to do all the things we wanted to. Having such a pleasant and peaceful base made this the perfect break. We would most certainly recommend and return to this property.

A wonderful property with very comfortable accommodation.

We enjoyed our friendly interactions with David and Sharon and particularly the tour of the farm by David. Great location to explore the Mourne Mountains aonb and good road links to travel around the province incl The Giant's Causeway and The Open Golf at Royal Portrush Golf Club. Nearby Rathfriland is a friendly town to enjoy a wander around with an excellent warm welcome from shopkeepers and a great pint of Guinness in the Mourne View Bar. We shall return ♥️ Thank you.

A well-appointed cottage in a scenic rural setting.

Our friendly hosts made sure that our stay was perfect.

A lovely quiet location right in the centre of the southern half of Northern Ireland - we were able to get to all the locations with ease.

Owners were really friendly and helpful, checking we were OK a couple of times. I can't think of any suggestions for improvement - keep it up!

The cottage is clean, comfortable and very well equipped.

It's in a beautiful setting and although the weather wasn’t kind enough to let us make use of the outside seating, it looked like a great place to enjoy any sunshine, when it appears. The views from the big window in the lounge and the panoramic view from the conservatory were wonderful even without sunshine to enhance them. However, our stay was made more memorable by the welcome provided by David and Sharon. From the welcome pack of eggs, milk, porridge, biscuits, etc their initial guided tour of the property and their relevant suggestions of places to visit or routes to take, they were perfect hosts. I took up the invitation of a farm tour which included some historical insights about the farm and surrounding area. It was most enjoyable and I learned a lot about the challenges facing today's farmers. Thanks too to David for the invitation to watch the parade in commemoration of the battle of the Somme. It was great to be able to see and understand the local traditions. All in all our stay at Glebe farm provided the icing on the cake of a very enjoyable holiday in Northern Ireland.

High quality accommodation with very welcoming hosts.

A joy to visit and learn so much about the Northern Ireland way of life.

We found Glebe cottage excellent for both its presentation and comfort, also its position close to the Mournes was ideal.

We also found our hosts helpful and knowledgeable about the area and were keen to answer any queries we had. It is a cottage we would definitely return too when visiting friends and relatives in future years.

Really enjoyed staying at Glebe Farm.

There was nothing they hadn't thought off. The wee personal touches, fresh flowers, homemade scones, the wee butter dish and milk bottle. Spotlessly clean. The views from the living room window are beautiful. Loved the animals. It's a pity we had to cut of trip short, due to be being taken unwell, but we shall definitely return. We had a lovely stay and were made very welcome and comfortable by David and Sharon.

The basket of goodies, scones, milk and butter were a lovely touch. With the conservatory as well as the lounge there was so much space and comfy seating to enjoy the sunshine and relax in the evenings The cottage was very well appointed and I even got some washing done and dry! It made a great base for our excursions with lots of tips and ideas for local activities. We would certainly return.

Glebe Cottage was very well equipped and clean.

Set on a working farm we were greeted each morning by the sight of either cows, chickens, horses or Alpacas in the field opposite. There was an lovely welcome hamper provided for our arrival and fresh flowers on the kitchen table…. little attentions to detail that made us feel the owners were keen to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. We used the cottage as a base for a walking holiday and the owners were knowledgeable and helpful as to where we might like to visit, they also assured us that it was no trouble for us to contact them should we need anything.. would highly recommend.

The loveliest of welcomes from David and Sharon. They were perfect hosts. The cottage was immaculately clean, extremely comfortable, very well equipped and spacious. Set in beautiful rolling countryside, it was the ideal base from which to explore the many delights of this part of Northern Ireland. This was our first visit to Glebe Farm Cottage. In every way. Warm, kind, welcoming hosts, David and Sharon, and a beautifully presented cottage. Everything is of the finest quality. Comfortable beds, luxury bedding and towels, and a fully fitted kitchen. Cannot recommend highly enough, we are already planning our next visit.

Second time we have stayed and it is still a great cottage to stay at.

The farm animals are very entertaining to watch from the lounge window. David and Sharon are fantastic hosts who make you feel so welcome and always want to go the extra mile to make your stay brilliant and they did just that again.

Rathfriland might not seem an obvious base for touring Ulster but actually we found it perfect, We were able to easily reach all parts of the province and visit all the wonderful sights it has to offer.

Glebe Farm Cottage is a delightful home from home enhanced by the very kind attention and welcome given to us by David and Sharon. They are really, really genial hosts. We cannot recommend Glebe Farm Cottage highly enough. To look out at the farm animals was a joy especially the antics of the alpaca and horses. We received a warm Northern Irish welcome from David and Sharon with a thoughtful welcome pack with homemade goodies. Sharon and David are such friendly and helpful hosts, and the cottage had everything we needed; it was really comfortable and clean, and in a great location. The views out over the farm are a joy with horses, rabbits, alpacas, chickens and views of the mountains in the distance. We walked up to the town and ate out at a nearby restaurant, Loft 56, a few times. We thoroughly recommend Glebe Farm and we are considering when we can go back!

OUTSTANDING HOSPITALITY!

The bungalow is light, airy, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The big picture windows provide views of the happy hens, alpacas and horses, as well as across the fields towards Rathfriland itself and a tiny, tantalising glimpse of the Mourne Mountains. The location is peaceful, with easy access to the Mournes. Belfast, the Ards Peninsular and, we discovered, the NE counties of the Republic are also well within reach. What made this stay really stand out from all the other cottages we've ever visited, though, was the hospitality of David and Sharon. No-one could have been more friendly or helpful, whilst being respectful of our privacy.There are many aspects of that week which will live long in our memories. But, whilst the places we have visited will inevitably blur over time, their outstanding kindness will certainly not be forgotten. Thank you so much!

There is a good local shop and lovely restaurant in Rathfriland about a 5 minute drive away. If you book I’m sure you will have a great stay with fantastic hosts.

We spent two wonderful weeks in Glebe Farm Cottage and loved every minute of it.

It contains all you need for a comfortable stay with none of what you don't. We had not stayed in Northern Ireland before but have returned home wanting more. The wee south east corner is full of stunning beauty, contrasting landscapes and charming villages. The Mourne Mountains and coast are beautiful plus we were there at such a pretty time of year. Vivid green, electric yellow from the fattest and most fulsome Gorse ever seen, blossom and blue bells. Quiet roads and almost no commercialism. Book this holiday home for one of the best holidays you'll ever have in a very special part of the UK with kind generous hosts who want to add to your experience.

Lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable, in a very nice area.

The cottage is next to the owner's farm and we loved seeing the animals, including alpacas, out in the fields. The hens were very entertaining too. There are numerous forests, parks, beaches etc within easy reach of the cottage.

Lovely views for your morning coffee. In a great location with plenty to see and do around you. For Game of Thrones fans the studio tour is just down the road and you won't be disappointed. The owners are fantastic, very friendly and extremely helpful. Highly recommended

Big bungalow with lots of light coming in.

Watching the livestock became a favourite pastime. We liked the seclusion/peacefulness without it being too remote. The owners were friendly and very informative, interesting to talk to. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would recommend this property to our friends and family.

The pictures don't do the cottage justice, it was spotlessly clean, spacious, David and Sharon had thought of everything and equipped the cottage very well. Arrival hamper was a lovely touch filled with Homemade wheaten, eggs from their organic farm, real butter, real tayto and the most delicious hand made chocolate fudge. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay, we had a tour of the farm on the last day which I found very interesting and got pics with one of the alpacas. I would highly recommend a stay here and wish David and Sharon the very best for the future. Super hosts, thanks for your great hospitality. See you again
