Mayfly Cottage is a delightful single-storey cottage nestled in the countryside, approximately 3km west of the village of Clonbur, the gateway to Connemara, in Joyce Country, County Galway.

Set within the recently designated Joyce Country and Western Lakes UNESCO Global Geopark, the cottage is perfectly positioned for exploring one of Ireland’s most spectacular landscapes, renowned for its rich geological, natural and cultural heritage.

Offering off-road parking, beautiful views across Lough Mask and a peaceful setting surrounded by mountains and woodland, Mayfly Cottage is the perfect retreat for couples, families, friends or anyone looking to experience the beauty of the west of Ireland.

Air conditioning throughout the cottage ensures a comfortable stay whatever the season.

The cottage offers two thoughtfully designed bedrooms.

The spacious master bedroom features a king-size bed and its own en-suite shower room, providing added comfort and privacy, while the twin bedroom is served by a separate modern shower room.

Both rooms have been carefully designed to create a peaceful and relaxing space for a restful night’s sleep.

Outside, the shared garden offers the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, dine al fresco or simply soak up the tranquillity while admiring the beautiful views across Lough Mask and the surrounding countryside.

The picturesque village of Clonbur offers everything you might need during your stay, including a supermarket, traditional pubs with regular Irish music sessions, a bakery, two restaurants, a playground and easy access to woodland walks and mountain trails.

A short drive brings you to the historic village of Cong, home to the magnificent Ashford Castle, the ancient Cong Abbey and the filming location of *The Quiet Man*, as well as charming cafés and scenic riverside walks.

Within an hour’s drive, you’ll find both the vibrant coastal town of Westport and the lively city of Galway.

Westport offers colourful streets, independent shops, excellent restaurants, traditional pubs, the scenic Great Western Greenway and breathtaking views of Croagh Patrick, while Galway City invites you to explore its historic streets, the lively Latin Quarter, Galway Cathedral, a vibrant arts scene and an excellent selection of restaurants and traditional pubs.

Venture deeper into Connemara to discover Leenane (26km) and Ireland’s only fjord and further on, the charming town of Clifden (60km) , known as the Capital of Connemara’, with its welcoming cafés, boutique shops, seafood restaurants and spectacular coastal scenery.

If you fancy a trip to the Aran Islands, we’re about 50km from Rossaveel where there is a regular ferry to and from Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran islands.

A visit to Kylemore Abbey (40km) and its Victorian Walled Gardens offer the chance to experience one of Ireland’s most iconic landmarks, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Connemara mountains.

Glasilaun Beach and Lettergesh Beach are both less than an hour’s drive from the cottage and are well worth a visit for their white sands, crystal-clear waters and breathtaking Atlantic views.
